Job Title: Project Controls Manager

The Company:
Our client, a major Engineering company, requires expertise for their ongoing oil sands mega-projects in Alberta.
Open to canadian citizens and permanent residents only.

The Role:
A leading engineering company is currently looking for a Manager, Project Controls to join their corporate management team in Calgary.


To manage all aspects of the Project Controls functional team, including governance, systems, staff, training and development, in order to provide the company with an efficient and professional Project Controls capability.


 Provide clear definition of the objectives of Project Controls within the organization and in the interfaces with clients.
 Implement established policies, techniques, processes, procedures and tools best suited to the specific assignment within the Cost Management, Progress Measurement, Planning & Scheduling functional teams.
 Provide leadership to the functional group toward achieving delivery focused results in accordance with agreed schedules, milestones, budgets, etc.
 Ensure that all job requirements, techniques and systems are properly documented in terms of Job Descriptions, Departmental Procedures and User Manuals.
 Ensure effective interfaces with Project Management, Supply Chain Management, Engineering and Construction teams.
 Carry out regular reviews of Project Controls policies, procedures and practices to ensure that objectives are being met.
 Management of staff to Projects by managing the specification, recruitment, training and development of Project Controls personnel.
 Carry out periodic appraisals of staff including staffing levels, competencies, training and development, assignment to teams, etc.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:

 Must have a minimum of 15 years experience in Project Controls in an EPC/EPCM environment, preferably in the upstream mineable oil sands/or mining sectors on large-scale projects
 A minimum of 10 years’ supervisory experience in the management of a Project Controls department of 50 or more.
 An engineering or other technical school graduate
