They offer their clients a complete range of skills and services so that they can work with their teams right from the earliest ‘ideas’ stage of their planned investments, through the study or concept selection phase, the front-end design, the EPC phase, and on into the commissioning and start-up phase.

The Role:
A new position has arisen for a Project Controls Manager on a 2 year fixed term contract based in Japan with adhoc visits to Kuwait.

The responsibilities of the role will include the following:
• Study and understand all relevant project documents and conditions
• Define primary job objectives clearly at project and departmental management levels by highlighting schedule and cost requirements
• Ensure EPC contractor and planning and reporting is structured for incorporating into overall Directorate reporting
• Monitor EPC contractors schedule and progress with progress and milestone verification to support payment and monitor PMC cost and manpower
• Review EPC contractor's proposals for changes in the work
• Review EPC contractor's costs for changes in the scope
• Monitor PMC performance in document review periods and hold points
• Review and monitor procurement activities
• Monitor EPC contractor’s project control activities particularly with regard to planning, scheduling and forecasting, likely threats and risks to meeting the overall project completion date
• Review EPC contractor's actual progress against planned progress
• Review EPC contractor’s monthly report and contribute to PMC monthly report Attend regular progress meetings
• Review actual site progress against planned progress, particularly with regard to manpower levels, productivity, construction metrics and payment
• Ensure the maintenance of both time and cost trend statistics
• Monitor and compare schedule and cost reports and relaying conclusions such that PMC management is alerted at the right time
• Co-ordinate of the final job statistics and analyse the effectiveness of procedures for possible improvement on future projects
• Provide feedback on key project issues to Department Management on a timely basis

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Engineering degree
• 20 - 25 years industrial experience
• Experience in PMC / EPC organisations in the field of Refinery / Petrochemicals for major projects of value not less than US $ 500 Million each
• Substantial experience in planning, progress measurement, cost control, change management and document control on engineering, procurement, construction and completion phases which should have been gained in the refinery, petrochemicals or oil and gas industries
• Must have a strong understanding of planning, progress measurement, cost and change control
• Excellent communication skills and a pro-active approach to solving problems and getting the job done
• Self-motivated, energetic and tenacious
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
