The Company:
Our client offer design, manufacture, assembly & testing of complex, high-integrity mechanical and electromechanical plant equipment as well as waste management and decommissioning front-end engineering and methodologies to the nuclear industry

The Role:
You will lead and continuously improve the Project Controls team within the Division, managing and taking responsibility for the Project Controls team. You will play a key role in the implementation of Project Controls system and process improvements across the complex projects and Programme.

Engaging with internal and external stakeholders, the Project Controls Manager will provide high quality project performance data in a timely manner ensuring a balanced outlook on risk, opportunity and change control.

Key Activities / Decision Areas

Maintain and improve the Project Controls governance, processes and procedures across the programme.

Lead, manage and coordinate the Project Controls team including cost estimators, planners, cost engineers etc. across bidding and delivery activities, cover absences where required.

Providing Project Controls support to the Project Management team by ensuring accurate and timely project information and systems which provide opportunities to make informed project decisions, to prevent deviations from the planned time, cost and quality objectives.

Ensure the governance timetable including 'deep dive' reviews where appropriate are adhered to with outputs appropriately recorded in a timely manner.

Ensure that the data for internal and customer reporting purposes is prepared correctly, accurately, is aligned to the processes and procedures and produced to the required quality in a timely manner, for the approval and use by the Programme and Project Managers.

Ensure that forecast data for both internal and external customers is checked, validated and aligned across the projects, for the approval and use by the Programme and Project Managers.

Effective engagement with internal stakeholders including SMT and Directors to ensure appropriate and accurate data is provided in order to ensure predictable outcomes and accurate cost and resource forecasting.

Ensuring appropriate KPIs are in place and maintained to measure cost, time and quality (i.e. SPI/CPI) performance across the Division highlighting variances and trends in performance.

The Project Controls Manager will establish future resource demand to support the company resource planning meetings.

Management and improvement of all project controls processes within the Programme including scope management, progress mark-up process, risk and opportunity management and change management.

Act in a customer facing capacity for the Project Controls Team.

Functional Line Management responsibilities for Estimators, Planners and Costs Engineers, etc.

Ensure LFE is captured, analysed and improvements actioned within the Project Controls area (using the LFE database).

Be an Ansaldo ambassador by supporting the integration projects activities as required.

Support the Continuous Sustainable Improvement Plans (CSIP) and other improvement initiatives within the business.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Engineering or similar technical degree desirable, and or a professional project controls qualification

APMP Level D Qualification or similar would be desirable

Extensive experience in an engineering/manufacturing environment in a commercial or project management role.

Demonstrable track record and skills/experience gained within a similar position.

Analytical mind who has the ability to confidently engage in dialogue with people at all levels of the organisation.

Excellent track record of the management and control of complex data sets.

Strong management skills and experience.

Credible and confident communicator (written and verbal) at all levels.

The ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Ability to prioritise, demonstrating first class organisational skills and time management skills.

Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to work accurately in a busy and demanding environment.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Demonstrates a proven track record in development, implementation and monitoring of project controls processes, procedures, systems and governance. Specifically competent in schedule management, risk and opportunity management, cost
engineering/estimating, EVM, Configuration management and baseline management. With excellent people skills in order to drive change and focus their and others teams on the key business objectives.

Focuses on the customer, working co-operatively with customers and stakeholders (internal and external) in order to meet and exceed their expectations.

Collaborates and shares knowledge, seeking to create collective success through teamwork, knowledge sharing and mutual support.

Delivers results and focuses on solutions, planning what needs to be delivered and then focuses on making it happen.

Build Teams, bringing together the right people, in the right place at the right time to deliver business objectives.

Adapts to change, able to respond
