The Role:
To manage the Project Controls (PC) function within projects and enable the PC team to consistently deliver key data and management information across the project portfolio with transparency to schedule, cost and reporting.

Reports to the Asset Projects Director (Line Manager), with functional accountability to the Head of Programme Controls at TVP. Planners, schedulers, cost engineers report to the PCM. Examples of the PCM’s peers are the project’s Engineering Manager, Finance Manager, HSSE Manager, Construction Manager, Contracts & Procurement Manager etc.

-Apply corporate and local Health, Safety, Security and Environmental policies and regulations on project activities and ensure a robust safety culture is driven up and down through the organization such that work by project personnel, suppliers, contractors and partners is undertaken in an appropriate professional manner.
-Management of the Project Controls function including hiring, managing, interface management, ensuring alignment of the PC processes among all stakeholders and the continuous improvement of the function.
-Orchestration of the PC staff to meet the needs of the Project Managers with a customer service oriented approach
-Thoroughly understanding, customising to ensure “fit for purpose”, improving and training PC staff on the use of the processes prescribed by the company (e.g. PC software, Baseline Schedule development and management, Performance Status and Reporting, Baseline Change Control, Risk Management, Earned Value Management, Programme Controls Management System (PCMS) processes, guidance and tools, etc.)
-Provide guidance for the delivery of accurate and timely information to all stakeholders to assist in the delivery of approved capital projects to the sanctioned cost, schedule and performance criteria
-Lead and/or participate in the identification of risks and eliminate or implement mitigation measures. Capitalize on potential opportunities.
-Provide guidance to ensure project lessons learned are fed back within the asset and to internal Company project stakeholders,
-Participate actively in career development of direct reports, and succession planning initiatives to build future expertise

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
-A proven successful track record with a number of varied project controls assignments
-Advanced accreditation from an internationally recognized professional development and certification organization, e.g. Project Management Institute (PMI), Association for Project Management (APM), Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) etc.
-Educated to first degree level (or Bachelors degree), or equivalent, in a relevant discipline
-Must be driven and self-directed with the ability to take sparse direction from supervisors as well as vague, often contradictory information and create a sound plan of action
-Strong communicator (both written and verbal) able to state key project goals and objectives and present them clearly to the Project Controls staff, project management team and stakeholders
-Commercially and financially aware and able to show previous application of these skills to realise asset opportunities through better improved delivery approaches and tactics
