The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
E-machine design and development to deliver the required performance/requirements at minimum cost. Design aspects to include electromagnetic, mechanical and thermal (some or all of these) Development of Standards and Processes in Electric Machines. Development of standards relating to the performance, robustness and reliability of future e-machines Support Delivery Programmes. Provision of technical support on issues relating to electric traction motors such as poor NVH, performance and reliability.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* Experience in the complete design-develop-construct-test cycle for e-machines
* Aspects of Electromagnetic Design (lamination & winding design) of Machines AND/OR Mechanical design (stress analysis, fatigue, dimensioning) of e-machines
* Use of e-machine design tools incl. Electromagnetic FEA, Mech Stress Analysis Software, Thermal Analysis software and CFD, CAD for component dimensioning
* Experience in managing technically focused projects
* experience in e-machine Simulation programs including some of the following
* Electromagnetic FEA , Dynamic e-machines analysis (e.g. SPEED, Simulink), Mechanical stress analysis, Thermal analysis of machines, CAD for Mechanical Design eg. CATIA (SOME OF THE AFORMENTIONED)
* Familiarity with: -
* Manufacturing processes for e-machines
* Inverter topologies and machine control strategies
* E-motor Testing procedures
* Proven ability to work on own initiative and prioritize own workload.
* High level of attention to

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
* Experience of leasing with materials suppliers to help define manufacturing processes
* Previous experience in an automotive OEM or major component supplier would be advantageous
* Combination of Electromagnetic (lamination & winding design) and Mechanical design (stress analysis, fatigue, dimensioning) skills is preferable but NOT mandatory
* Previous experience of supplier management is desired.
* 8D processes, FMEA and robustness, PCS process knowledge
* MSc or PhD in a related discipline is preferable but not essential
