The Role:
The joint venture company has awarded an Engineer, Procure, Construct (EPC) contract with a value far in excess of $1 billion, and construction man hours in excess of 14,000,000. Engineering and procurement have been under way since early 2015, and construction activity has started.

The construction labour force is expected to peak at nearly 3,000 people and the site based construction supervision team is expected to comprise approximately 150 positions. Within these 150 positions, there are opportunities for driving the successful execution of the project and enjoying an opportunity to develop skills on a unique and prestigious project. This role is as part of the Site Management team.

Responsibilities

• Reporting to the Site project Manager
• Responsibilities include:
o Specific control of the building construction packages and for the provision of all project engineering support and leadership necessary to ensure their successful deliver. These packages may include blockwork/brick buildings, steel framed buildings and acoustic buildings including the construction, fit and services/utilities including HVAC, small power and lighting and the acoustic performance of the building/enclosure.
o Maintain an open and effective communication channel with Construction Management and with the Overall Project Manager
o Represent the Company in meetings with the Client, interfacing EPC’s, sub-contractors, and other stakeholders. Lead meetings and record minutes of meetings as required.
o Manage the Client at the Site
o Support the interests of the Senior Project Manager at the site, in particular in relation to safety, security, cost optimisation and management, and schedule control
o Support and promote the implementation of the Project Safety, Security and Quality plans
o Support and promote the implementation of the Project Execution Plan
o Provide strong leadership and coordination to ensure the site team is working effectively to achieve the project KPI’s. Identify and address risks and issues, escalating to the Site Project Manager and Senior Project Manager as required
o Provide leadership to ensure prompt prioritisation and coordination of all unforeseen issues at the site, escalating to the Site Project Manager as required. Provide cross-functional coordination on site, with external stakeholders, and with the offshore team as required.
o Manage all expenditures at the site in accordance with Company and Project Procedures, and Delegation of Authority
o Manage time capture and approvals for all reimbursable supervision team resources
o Manage the site assets and maintain the associated Asset Register
o Deputise for the Site Project Manager if requested
o Generate information and write regular progress reports as required by the Site Project Manager and Senior Project Manager


Essential Qualifications, Experience and Skills

• Engineering degree in a relevant discipline e.g. Civil Engineering, Building Engineering
• At least 12 years relevant experience in a project role in industrial gases, oil & gas or related industry, at least 4 years of which should be construction site based
• At least three years experience of building construction
• Team Player
• Strong communicator written and oral
• Strong and effective leader and coordinator
• Organised, disciplined, able to perform under pressure and manage multiple priorities and parallel tasks
• Strong Microsoft software skills, particularly Excel
• Familiar with SP Materials and STAC/Aconex
• Familiar with AP’s SAP cost reporting work process
• Strong report writing skills
• Experience of working in a multicultural project team
• Middle East project experience

• Saudi Aramco experience
• Experience of working on camp based construction sites in remote Middle East locations
