The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) operates as a nimble business within a business and is focused towards increasing profitability through leveraging our customers desire to personalize their vehicles.

Key strategic elements include:
- Pushing the boundaries of the brands to create high premium niche halo performance & luxury vehicles.
- Developing a range of option packs to enhance the sporting and lifestyle attributes of our vehicle range
- Enhancing the premium customer experience through vehicle personalisation and exclusivity

As a Project Engineer within SVO division you will be responsible for managing and coordinating the successful development, testing and introduction of new chassis components across a number of our new and exciting vehicle programmes. You will need to coordinate all necessary actions within the division working across functional areas such as engineering, manufacturing, finance, sales and marketing, as well as liaise with other JLR divisions and external suppliers. You will need to lead the resolution of cross-functional issues and report the project status to management on a regular basis via a range of communication channels including project team meetings and gateway status papers. "

Skills Required:

- Engineering lead from concept to production of SVO Chassis content for a specific SVO product,working in a team of SVO chassis engineers based at Gaydon alongside other SVO engineering and project teams.
- Project managing and engineering chassis parts and assemblies for a given programme with the support from the wider SVO chassis engineering team.
- Position will require an understanding of the product development process including for exaample FMEA'S,DVP generation,reviewing,checking and tracking supplier commodity plans,managing suppliers,ensuring testing is completed,organising tests,supporting pre-build events with related components and be the single point contact for a given programme for SVO chassis engineering.
- Able to read engineering drawing data and understand and use engineering standards and specifications.

Skills Preferred:

- TCE,CAD,CAE,DFMEA,DVPS,EFDVS,RMDV,test driving, dynamics.
- Excellent knowledge of the design and development of new automotive products.
- Excellent knowledge of product development systems used in the automotive industry.
- Excellent knowledge of quality tools used in industrial applications eg. DVP, FMEA, DFA, Robustness
- Working knowledge of issue tracking and release systems eg. BOM, AIMS, WERS
- Knowledge of vehicle homologation requirements
- Working knowledge of project planning tools eg MS Project Good working knowledge of manufacturing processes, particularly tooling methods and lead-times.
- Good working knowledge of materials used in modern vehicles
- Working knowledge of product costing and pricing methods"

Experience Required:

- Experience in engineering delivery of one or all of the following chassis components and assemblies; Foundation Brakes,wheels,tyres,subframes,springs and dampers,hubs,knuckles,control arms,air suspension.

Experience Preferred:

- Experience of working in a similar or technical role within the automotive industry, with demonstrable track record of delivery.

Education Required:

- It is anticipated candidates with be educated to Degree Level, or HNC/ HND with significant experience-Key is experience and working knowledge

Additional Information :

Candidates must be flexible, and capable of, supporting business activities at other sites, although the role will be Gaydon based
