The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
This position offers the successful candidate the opportunity to develop into a niche role where he or she will specialize in the homologation of vehicles in all global markets.
The successful candidate will enter the role with a sound background in and aptitude for the appropriate disciplines.
From this point they will have the opportunity to develop such that they will be able to fulfil the ultimate requirements of the position within the foreseeable future.
The ultimate Position Description
Working with the established team and specialists, the candidate will lead and programme manage Brakes Homologation to all global markets.
The candidate will ensure the timely delivery of documentation and guidance to Brakes department whilst working closely with the Automotive Safety Office (ASO).
Liaise with the brakes development leaders, SCS System suppliers and the ASO to provide technical support to and assist in preparation of supporting documentation for the homologation of the brakes subsystems.
Managing the delivery of Brakes homologation to the Gateway requirements.
Lead the delivery of elements of the homologation strategy, particularly with respect to the transition to virtual homologation techniques.
Compile Self-Certification documentation and any sign-off reports to ensure that all homologation documentation is traceable.
Provide guidance to Brakes Quality and Team Value Management (TVM) teams regarding self-certification and homologation requirements for running changes and service fixes.
Ensure that self-certification tests carried out by external organisations are completed in a timely and cost effect manner.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:

At point of entry the successful candidate will have confident and effective communication and negotiation skills and will be able to maintain a strong working relationship with suppliers and certification authorities.
The successful candidate will be reliable, self-motivated, enthusiastic and professional.
The successful candidate will have a high level of adaptability in the use of computer systems and in particular will possess high level user skills in Microsoft Office applications - particularly for project planning, reporting and presentation purposes.
The candidate will be able to demonstrate an aptitude for effective project planning and the subsequent management of projects to deliver to target.
The successful candidate will have, as a minimum, a Full UK driving licence for Cat B vehicles and will be able to demo

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Full UK driving licence for Cat BE & C1 vehicles
Test track driver training for high performance and Low Mu driving
Ground vehicle braking system design and development
Stability Control System (SCS / ESP) development
This is an unusual role ultimately demanding a detailed knowledge of the engineering of braking systems and a sympathy for and interest in the legal aspects of vehicle certification.
The successful candidate will have demonstrable abilities in project management and a background in automotive engineering.
As a minimum the candidate will have an interest in developing extensive knowledge with respect to the legislative aspects of this role.
This is not a role for a transient contractor but for the right individual has the potential to develop into long term career in this hybrid field of engineering and law.
