The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
Design Efficiency Role
The Chassis Design Efficiency Project Engineer will work closely with the Axle Concepts team, Technical Specialists and Chassis Functional Areas to ensure that components and systems are designed to deliver world class attributes using efficient / integrated solutions that are aligned to the Chassis / Product Development System Strategies.
This role requires a strong level of business acumen and the ability to influence commercial / economic elements of the business such as Purchase and Joint Venture proposals.
Ensuring future vehicles are engineered to world class cost competitiveness is essential for the continued success of the company.
To do this it is necessary to capture best practice from wherever it exists and ensure it is embedded in the Chassis Culture.
Leading benchmarking activities and developing techniques & tools to drive cost & weight efficiencies into Chassis systems & components.
Key customers are Programme Teams, and the TVM community, key stakeholders are Chassis engineers and managers, Chassis Purchase, Cost Engineering, Chassis suppliers.
The main location is Gaydon, although site mobility is expected along with the possibility of international travel.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Educated to degree level in Mechanical, Automotive or another related engineering discipline
Understanding of vehicle architecture desirable, particularly chassis components within the following systems: Springs, Dampers & ARBs Sub-frames, powertrain mounting, suspension links and wheel ends Steering, Wheel & Tyres Brakes
Significant component / system design experience
Significant Piece Cost estimating experience
Expertise in engineering cost best practice
Expertise in manufacturing process
