The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
Project Engineer, with a proven background in bracket design, tooling and manufacture. The Electrical Component Mounting Systems team are part of the Body Structures team who are responsible for the design, development and release of any interface part that is deemed necessary to mount an electrical component(s) to the vehicle. Typically these parts are brackets, manufactured either from steel, aluminum. The role also includes bracket avoidance (influencing other Product Development areas to facilitate direct mounting), as well as end-item fixing / complexity reduction and the management of production and prototype suppliers. Delivery of bracket component designs from concept through to production (Job1+90 days) working closely with Electrical CAD Integration and Manufacturing to develop mature concept designs. Confirm through Design Review all interfaces and understood and signed off Management of both virtual and physical durability testing (CAE and rigs/vehicle respectively). Work with Purchase to nominate the most appropriate supplier (TA, CAD SOW, cost packs, RFQs etc). Supplier coordination and liaison, including the maturation of the 3D CAD model through to production detail and 2D drawing creation. Support virtual and physical vehicle build requirements. Resolution of all issues related to bracket design, development and vehicle fitment, including the ownership and maintenance of issue management tracking documentation (AIMS). Identification, justification and procurement of prototype and production parts to suit build requirements. Effective and timely release of designs and associated fixings, including Materials Engineering sign-off, in support of virtual and physical activities (WERS, Alerts, PACN, PSW etc).


Role is Gaydon based but may required periods of residency at manufacturing sites during launch phases

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
- Experience of bracket design, tooling and manufacture
- Proven Project management capability demonstrated by recent delivery on time & budget
- Able to operate a regular Programmme Management meeting with all key stakeholders to ensure timing, cost, weight and quality targets are delivered
- Data analysis and PC skills including Excel, Word and Powerpoint
- Good team player, who is self motivated to deliver good quality products, under the minimum of supervision
- Excellent communications skills
- Demonstrated ability to communicate at all levels
- Successful history of project management delivery
- Extensive bracket design and tooling experience
- Extensive mechanical automotive product design experience (e.g. Body Engineering, BIW, Chassis, Triml etc.)
- Experience forming parts from sheet steel, aluminum and plastic injection mouldings

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
- Experience and knowledge of Company change management and release processes (RFQ, PACN, WERS, AIMS, eFDVS, APQP and PSW)
- Experience of problem solving tools
- CAD Literacy; ability to manipulate and interrogate CAD data and use associated visualisation tools
- Ability to generate CAD data in Catia v5 would be an advantage
- Significant experience in use of engineering tools; FMEA, Six Sigma, problem resolution etc.
- Any person supplied should have a valid UK driving licence and meet the medical requirements of Company facilities
- Working knowledge of project delivery processes; GPDS / FPDS / PRINCE2 or similar
- Working knowledge of change management processes
- Ideally degree educated
