The Company:
Our Client’s engineering division, has been a leader in the design of drilling facilities for offshore platforms worldwide for over 30 years. The company’s 700-strong workforce provides a range of engineering services from pre-project and Front End Engineering Design (FEED) through detail design, construction support, hook-up and commissioning.

The Role:
We are currently recruiting for a Project Engineer to work in our clients Aberdeen office on an ongoing contract basis. The ideal candidate will have the following:

•Knowledge of and compliance with client Management Systems.
•Knowledge of and compliance with client, industry and international specifications and standards.
•Supervision of Discipline Engineers under own control, and for the technical content and quality of work produced by these discipline personnel.
•Direction of Discipline Designer(s) allocated to own area of responsibility and frequent liaison to ensure coordination.
•Production of cost effective engineering solutions that are fit for purpose, safe and add value to both the company and the Client. Motivation of discipline personnel allocated to own area of responsibility to do similarly.
•Originating engineering documentation for allocated workscopes, e.g. calculations, design reports and specifications, and checking similar documentation and workpacks created by others.
•Ensuring operational and maintenance issues are addressed in the design. Seeking input from operations and maintenance personnel and, if beneficial, carrying out presentations to site personnel regarding changes to their installation.
•Surveys, both onshore and offshore, to determine information to allow execution of workscopes.
•Raising requisitions for purchase of engineered items and services, as directed by the Lead Discipline Engineer.
•Execution of work within manhour budget and time schedule.
•Early identification to the Lead Discipline Engineer of areas of concern during the course of any project or study with necessary corrective action identified.
•Checking engineering content of design deliverables for allocated workscopes, e.g. drawings, bills of material.
•Review of Supplier / Vendor documents.
•Communication, where appropriate, with Engineers of other disciplines to ensure design integrity and consistency.
•Technical input to procurement activities and raising requisitions for purchase of engineered items and services.
•Identification of increase or reduction in scope of work and advising the Lead Discipline Engineer accordingly.
•Following discipline procedures for document control and use and retention of check prints / IDC comments prints as directed by the Lead Discipline Engineer.
•Representation of the company with Clients and Suppliers / Vendors in a professional manner.
•Assistance to the Lead Discipline Engineer as directed.

Safety
•Use of safe approach in design and working practices, following the objectives of the Office and project specific Health, Safety and Environmental Plans. Encouragement of attention to safety in personnel allocated to own area of responsibility.
Financial
•Awareness and understanding of the business drivers within the company / Client relationship and how these can be influenced by innovative designs and fit-for-purpose solutions.

Business Development
•Development of good working relationship with Client and site personnel.
•Use of opportunities at meetings with Clients, Vendors etc. to learn of additional work which the client could undertake and to promote the companies capabilities.
•During surveys and site visits, communication with Operations and Maintenance personnel to determine any opportunities where clients could provide an engineering solution to existing problems or for improving the existing practice.

Departmental Development
•Liaison with the Lead Discipline Engineer to identify areas for development and to implement improvements in working practices
Systems and Processes
•Provision of information as required by client Systems.

People
•Assistance with development of Graduate Discipline Engineers and Trainee Discipline Designers.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Adherence to the client QMS.
Keeping up to date with technical developments, client national and international standards and legislative requirements related to the role.
