The Role:
The Project Engineer, Nuclear (PE) will be a key player with our client and is expected to contribute in all areas of the business. This position could be characterized as the ‘general manager’ of one or several projects. The PE will manage the execution of smaller projects being delivered by the client from proposal to delivery and installation and will use whatever resources necessary (within or outsidethe company) to successfully conclude the project. Responsibilities include both the project team general management as well as a key contributor for schedule and contract management. Multiple projects can be expected in both the execution and proposal phases.
The PE will also be expected to work as the “local” UK liaison engineer on larger projects being delivered by our parent company. of Shoreview Minnesota USA. It follows that it would be necessary to travel to Shoreview occasionally.
The PE will also be expected to work as a key member of the Engineering Team and the PE will assist the Engineering Team to plan, perform and supervise on-site inspections, maintenance, repair and/or overhaul of Electro-mechanical equipment manufactured, licensed, or otherwise supported our clients Group in a service or warranty capacity as requested by the customer. The PE will also support training for client’s operators and engineers in the use, operation, fault finding (diagnostics) and repair of the company or other supported equipment covered by the companies contracts.
Attention will be given to focus the PE on similar types of projects. With this focus, the team will develop experience that can be leveraged to improve proposal accuracy and project execution on subsequent projects of a similar nature.

Primary responsibilities:
• Oversight of projects from beginning to end to ensure their success. Success is defined by,
o total customer satisfaction
o meeting or exceeding financial targets (project P&L management)
o conduct consistent with the Clients Corporate Values.
• Proposal development and writing. This includes recommended schedule, pricing and cost estimates.
• Support the BDD and PM in negotiations for the terms, conditions and pricing of the project with the customer.
• Oversight of the execution of the project (engineering design through to installation) through leadership of the project execution team. This team will include representatives from engineering, manufacturing, field service and materials. Coordination of this team will be through the use of Microsoft Project or some similar scheduling tool. Utilization of this will be direct responsibility of this position.
• Primary customer contact during project execution and as such will handle all discussions about:
o Schedule
o Contract compliance as it relates to allowable variations and payments
• Ensure that all personnel in the team work in a safe manner and comply with defined statutory and company, local Health and Safety rules and regulations at all times.
Secondary Responsibilities:
• Applications engineering.
• Support to the Sales team in the development of new business.
• Support to the Engineering team for on-site service and warranty functions as requested by the customer and authorised by the companies management.
• Perform inspections and certifications for applicable equipment to appropriate and corresponding inspection codes.
• Work with Engineering, Program and Project Managers to generate and submit service and installation reports.
• Ensure that all personnel working on assigned tasks are trained in the requirements and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure that required PPE is worn at all times and is maintained and replaced as required.
• Assist in the delivery of training courses (once suitably qualified) to client operators and engineers.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions and convey requirements of the documents to the assigned team members when required.
• Maintain close contact with customers for engineering issues for all product lines and provide customer technical assistance, when required, via telephone or face-to-face meetings, either on site or at the clients premises.
• Fulfill manpower requirements for service and installations by coordinating with the Engineering team.
• Maintain strict control of own and others time on assigned tasks and ensure that all direct and indirect hours are charged accurately and to the appropriate accounts.
• Provide detailed timesheet and expense reports on a timely basis as required by our clients procedures.
• Ensure the Managers capture all condition reports to include pricing, and job expenses to include materials, travel and time keeping.
• Maintain Field Service policies by developing, administrating and monitoring all field Service policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• BTEC/HNC/HND with three years related technical experience in an Engineering field.
• Competency in Microsoft Project software.
• Team leadership experience ideally in a project setting.
• Familiarity with electromechanical systems and related control software.
• Able to travel in the UK and overseas from time to time.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• BSc or equivalent with 5 or more years’ experience in engineering, field engineering or project management.
• More than two years in a project leadership role.
• Experience in remote handling and robotics and/or other electro-mechanical nuclear businesses.
• Actively pursuing the Professional Project Management certification.
• Strong working familiarity with Microsoft Project.
