The Role:
SCOPE:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering required; preferred mechanical. Other disciplines will be considered with project management experience.

DELIVERABLES:
The Project Engineer is expected to provide leadership and management support on projects and sub-projects representing the Capital Projects Organization (CPO) of Company. The Project Engineer will collaborate with representatives of other departments and disciplines to execute projects from conception to closure. The Project engineer will be assisting the Project Leader with day to day interaction with engineering contractors, technical authorities, customers and other representatives in the projects organization.

Accountabilities include technical evaluation/collaboration with CompanyTechnical Authorities, procurement support, safety performance, planning of the project, planning and executing projects, working with contractors, cost and schedule control.

The Project Engineer is responsible to monitor the engineering progress of the project for technical compliance and cost and schedule compliance. The Project Engineer is responsible for reporting any deviations to the plan.

Project activities are executed utilizing the Capital Projects Management System (CPMS) for projects over $50MM net, and a modified CPMS Alaska version of the procedures for projects under $50MM net.

This position is ultimately responsible for assisting the Project Lead in project delivery, resolution of technical issues through collaboration and decision making, project plan development (cost, scope, and schedule), plan documentation and communication, project approval, and actual project performance measured against approved plan.

Projects and sub-project range from small (<$1MM) to medium size ($15-$75MM). Large projects can range up to $400MM.

The number of projects within the span of management of this position will vary between 3 - 9 depending on business needs, the annual capital budget, and project justifications.

Projects will be executed within the North Slope. The projects, and sub-projects, assigned will be assessed by project complexity and project budget

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering required; preferred mechanical. Other disciplines will be considered with project management experience.

10 years of applicable project management experience.
Understanding of technical discipline engineering such as process engineering, piping design, instrument and electrical design, materials procurement and construction support.
Ability to recognize project issues related to all engineering disciplines in order to facilitate a resolution.
Background in facility design, facilities operations or construction work.
Ability to complete long term projects with only general supervision from immediate supervisor.
Ability to work closely with engineering contractors, construction organization, equipment vendors, operations and maintenance groups.
Firm understanding of business objectives with a desire to develop good projects through the use of e

Strong problem solving skills and the ability to resolve barriers to progress that arise on a daily basis.

Ability to follow written project procedures should be accompanied by open thinking and willingness to challenge accepted practices to generate new ideas to improve business and project performance.
Project Management Professional designation, or have experience requirements to obtain PMP through Project Management Institute, or have obtained equivalent formal training in project management skills.
Strong communication skills to include writing, interpersonal, conflict resolution, public speaking and stakeholder analysis.
