Play a fundamental part in the UK’s energy revolution with this Project Engineer position with Cuadrilla Resources; the country’s premier shale gas exploration and production company.

So what does the role entail?

As Project Engineer you’ll be joining a small, but committed team based in Bamber Bridge, set close to the Forest of Bowland.

Reporting directly to the Cuadrilla Project Manager in the Bowland area, you’ll be interfacing with key Cuadrilla departments (including HSE and Planning) and undertaking a wide variety of work from day one including compliance, and monitoring planning/permit conditions and making sure these are adhered to throughout the life of the project. Regular liaison with local authorities will be an essential part of the role and a keen eye for detail is a must.

The position involves a wide scope of work; so you’ll be best placed if you are able to work autonomously, use your initiative, stay organised and work within tight deadlines. A degree in Engineering/Operations and experience with MS Project are also desired.

The Job Description requires the Project Engineer to:

• Support the Bowland Project Manager in the planning, procurement, and execution of the UK’s first multi-horizontal well program in the Bowland Shale.
• Provide the Project Manager with insights of the project progress relative to project objectives, schedule, budget, HSE, regulatory, and planning conditions..
• Ensure consistency between project documents regarding policies and procedures.
• Work with operational managers (site construction, drilling, environmental, stimulation, testing) to ensure delivery of the Bowland Project in a safe, environmentally responsible manner, on time and within budget.
• Undertake primarily office-based work in Bamber Bridge, Lancashire however the role will also include travel within the UK to meet with partners and suppliers. In addition, there will be site visits to the nearby proposed exploration sites (currently the subject of planning appeals) on the Fylde in Lancashire.
• Draft reports and presentations, manage and monitor project registers, generate and analyse spreadsheets for variance analysis.
• Make presentations to Senior Management, Joint Venture Partners and Suppliers.

As Cuadrilla are at the forefront of natural shale gas exploration, in the Bowland Shale basin in Lancashire, your Principal Tasks will include:

• Reviewing project PLANC register with SME’s and feeding into the project execution plan key deliverables and timeframes.
• Tracking and monitoring the progress of all items affecting approval of statutory consents necessary for project implementation including planning conditions.
• Preparing and maintaining the Project Execution Plan and updating as required.
• Preparing and maintaining the project schedule and monitoring progress and expediting activities against schedule and milestone dates.
• Managing the project risk register and tracking.
• Tracking project deliverables and ensuring consistency of format and process, and alignment with relevant design basis.
• Co-ordination of the “project commitments register” to ensure activities which have a time bound deliverable are incorporated into the Project Execution Plan.
• Supporting contracting processes with contract owners. This includes preparation of ITT’s, preparing tender clarifications, tender reviews, assist in issuing of contracts, and contract management.
• Assisting in the tracking of expenditure against budget, in particular contract expenditure.
• Co-ordinating the engineering input to tender packages issued to suppliers and contractors.
• Assisting in the submission of contract approvals to JV partners and expediting of approvals.
• Maintaining and updating the Contract Register.
• Receiving and managing technical queries from suppliers and contractors and monitoring change requests and approval of changes and variance in supplier design.
• Co-ordination of change management process, including change register.
• Co-ordination of inputs to monthly report from all disciplines.
• Contributing to improvements in design and processes.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Around 2-7 years experience
Degree Qualified: Engineering/Operations preferred
E&P Oil and Gas experience preferable
Excellent IT skills, with MS Project experience a big plus
A detail oriented engineer who can work autonomously and display proven examples of initiative.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work within tight deadlines
