The Company:
Leading engineering contractor and project integrator for the nuclear industry. They have been at the heart of the UK nuclear industry for over 50 years. They have designed, manufactured, installed and commissioned a wide range of nuclear equipment and plant for both the power generation and defence markets.

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Project Engineer to join our clients Westlakes office, near Whitehaven in Cumbria.

The Role:
Working within a professional team you will be involved in the design/procurement of a major EPC project at Sellafield nuclear licensed site.

The Project Engineer co-ordinates technical delivery and design integration of workpacks, assigned by the Engineering Manager, to time and budget as detailed in the contract programme.

LINE MANAGEMENT
The Project Engineer reports to the Engineering Manager and has delivery accountability to the Work Pack Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Project Engineer is responsible for;
Design Integration across internal disciplines and subcontractor organisations: ensuring effective communication and flow information.
Ensuring that design activities are executed in accordance with strategies defined and agreed with the Package Manager.
Production and update of deliverables lists for internal disciplines and ensuring all design subcontractor organisations provide suitable deliverable lists for integration into work pack summary lists.
Production and update of Level 5 programmes, where deemed necessary for management and execution of specific engineering activities, to meet contract programme time constraints as defined in the contract Level 4 plan.
Expediting technical query responses.
Ensuring that Lead Engineers are provided programmes for production of Engineering deliverables.
Progress monitoring and reporting of internal engineering deliverables against agreed budgets and the contract programme and ensuring all subcontractors provide similar information.
Verification of subcontractor engineering progress: advising the Package Manager as required with respect to approval of monthly valuations.
Convening design reviews as required by the contract and to ensure effective design integration across both internal and sub contract scopes.
Promoting technical alignment between contract fit for purpose design approach and client expectations by identifying deviations from contract scope and advising Package Manager of such deviation.
Providing the Package Manager with internal and sub contractor Engineering progress and forecasts in accordance with project protocols.
Identification of problem areas to the Engineering and Package Managers including participation in development of appropriate solutions.
Management of technical interfaces between engineering and other project functions: ensuring that deliverables are issued internally and externally, per contract work instruction, to enable the relevant downstream activities Providing liaison between Client engineering
team members and in house disciplines.
Ensuring that changes to the contract workscope are identified to the package Manager and relevant NEC3 processes initiated.
Supporting the Package and Commercial Managers in processing Early Warning Notices, Compensation Events, Compensation Event Quotations and Project Manager’s Instruction.
Raising internal change notes in accordance with corporate procedure.
Providing the Engineering Manager with resource assessments and Forecasts.
To assist the Engineering Manager to maintain the staff prior approval system, for mobilisation and demobilisation and to provide details of such changes to the Package Manager.
To act as a liaison between Sellafield engineering team members, Sub contractors and internal staff.
Production of scopes of work for engineering sub-contractors.
Supporting the Package Manager, as required, in implementation of the risk Management Process.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualification:
Relevant Degree (Mech) or suitable qualification and experience

Experience:
Must have extensive design experience.
Previous EPC contract delivery experience.
NEC3 experience.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Preferred Qualification - Chartered Engineer
