The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
Off-Road Capability Test Engineer providing test engineer support for Technical Specialist & Project leaders.
- Support Project leaders team
- Support Attribute Devt & Metrics team with vehicle preparation & evaluation, facility devt, test logistics
- Procuring & maintaining Off Road Capability (ORC) test equipment
- Compiling requirements opulating internal systems with ORC requirements, authoring new requirements as necessary
- Providing data to enable setting of targets e.g. Wading, Gradeability, Traction performance for ORC
- Analysing & processing data obtained from objective (& subjective) test assessments & benchmarking on wide range of off-road vehicles to support project leaders & Technical Specialist activities
- Measurement of our / competitor vehicles to provide futuring targets for future products by consideration of Program Attribute positioning & potential future competitor actions
- Carrying out test plan in conjunction with Project leader & project team to meet test plan requirements for off-road testing in UK & in hot & cold climatic conditions
- Test to plan and maintain overall target spend levels against budget
- Support development of objective metric procedures & authoring of requirements
- Development of off-road metrics writing procedures to support ORC development
- Define expenditure for development of off-road measures
- Carrying out evaluations with a number of vehicles & engineering personnel; recording & analysing data, writing report & drawing conclusions from this data. All metric development project work has to be carried out within project timing requirements. All reporting out has to be carried out within gateway timing requirements of project. Carrying out benchmark exercises

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
- Highly self-motivated engineer with proven inter-personal communication/networking skills
- Confident presentation & report-writing skills; competent use of MS Office
- Must have a valid UK driving licence and meet the medical requirements of Company facilities
- A flexible approach to work beyond normal hours as required. Reasonable flexibility to support overseas testing
- Good working knowledge of vehicle engineering, test & development, and experience of whole vehicle evaluation
- Proven project and time management skills
- Demonstrable evidence of application of a robust scientific approach & knowledge of design of experiments
- Relevant Mechanical Engineering Degree or higher (preferred but could be offset against suitable experience)

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
- Our product & competitor benchmark drives to be carried out
- Competitor analysis (over & above benchmarking), desk top data collection & physical measurement of vehicles
- Data recorded needs to be collated & analysed report written & conclusions drawn from this data
- Working with Technical Specialists & Project leaders to develop designs that provide the necessary vehicle architectural and design characteristics that deliver good off-road performance. PAT Attribute skills
