The Role:
Fircroft are seeking a Project Engineer (Pipe Coating) for a long term project in Azerbaijan

Duration: 12 months rolling contract
Location: Baku
Rate: Day rate – circa 650GBP tax paid deal
Rotation: 6/2

The Project Engineer (Pipe Coating Works) will be responsible for in-country site management of plant modification, plant readiness and coating of subsea line-pipe for the offshore export pipelines.


Responsible for the safe, efficient, and effective execution of project scopes and communication of project goals and expectations Provide exemplary leadership to the contractors and vendors to facilitate successful scope delivery.
Ensure the line-pipe coating contractor(s) has a competent organisation and a high standard of resources in-place to successfully execute the work.
Manage the contractor project execution performance and scope delivery
Maintain awareness and promote conformance to expectations and requirements of Safe Design and Quality Build within the construction team and the contractors.
Promote, demonstrate and ensure compliance with all appropriate elements of the Operating Management System (OMS), including Risk Management, Continuous Improvement and Management of Change.
Maintain close contact with the Project Management network to ensure relevant lessons and practices are evaluated for applicability and implemented as appropriate.
Responsible for ensuring lessons learned are captured and shared

Management of Pipe Coating
Coating Plant Upgrade and Readiness
Manage the upgrades to the coating plant to enable safe and efficient coating of the export pipe.
Responsibilities in this area will include:
Managing the contractor’s construction activity on site to complete the plant upgrades Managing the upgrade programme to assure plant readiness in accordance with contract schedule
Managing the readiness planning & the co-ordination of pre-start assurance checklists prior to commencement of coating operations
Pipe Coating
Managing the coating works in-country to produce a high integrity product to the required schedule.

Responsibilities in this area include:
Managing the contractor’s on-site coating activity to deliver a safe efficient coating operation in accordance with the technical specifications and the contract schedule
Managing the load-in of project supplied pipe and maintaining records of pipe status
Managing the integrity/preservation of the bare and coated pipe in accordance with the technical specification
Managing the load-out of coated pipe on to the Installation Contractor’s pipe haul vessels Managing the site team at the contractor’s coating plant
Maintaining close contact with the engineering team to ensure timely approval of queries and approval of contractor documents.
Providing support to the management and tracking of contract costs including the assessment of contractor variations, invoices and deliverables.
Ensuring project management and execution practices are in place
Experience Requirements
Engineering degree and professional status accreditation with a recognised institution
A minimum of 10 years proven experience in site management of contractors
Experience with site management activities related to health, safety, and environmental issues
An awareness of line-pipe coating processes and application is an advantage but not essential
Skill Requirements:
Exhibits understanding of companies engineering and construction practices and the latest international standards that assure integrity of build and construction quality.
Proactively demonstrates sophisticated decision-making and leadership skills needed to address complex stakeholder groups and issues associated with Major Projects.
Ability to intervene in critical situations in order to redirect focus and achieve the required result.

A high level of proven communication, interpersonal and people management skills,
Financial and commercial awareness
Computer literate,
