The Role:
The Role

To plan, supervise, assign, coordinate and participate in the project activities of the Field Support Engineering Division in Oil & Gas transmission pipelines; Gas Lift pipelines; oil, gas, water injection and gas lift lowliness, Gas Lift manifolds, PWI system, Pig Launching and Receiving facilities, Line Break Valve Stations and other facilities associated with Field Support assets.
Principal Accountabilities
1. Plan, supervise and control project works undertaken involving activities like installation, relocation and modification of pipelines, flow lines and piping systems.
2. Monitors and directs the work and participates with contractor technicians in carrying out routine inspection, trouble shooting and fault diagnosis, testing and commissioning of pipelines, flow lines and piping system.
3. Implements inspection programs, participates in projects and contract works including installation and commissioning. Recommend corrective action. Define fitness for purpose and conformity to specifications and define safe areas of operation.
4. Manager and maintain files for a variety of related technical documentation such as equipment commissioning and test records, P&IDs and piping isometric as-built and other project related drawings and documents.
5. Identifies and reviews the tools and test equipment required to assist in doing the work.
6. Participates in the work of subordinate, contractor technicians as necessary to ensure priorities are attended to and urgent work promptly completed.
7. Required to resolve any technical problems in mechanical that may arise at site during works or during equipment testing/commissioning/monitoring.
8. Carries out other similar or related duties such as assisting other engineers in diagnosing, locating and clearing faults.
9. Carry out all other pipelines, flowlines and piping system works as directed by Lead Mechanical Engineer associated with department activities.

Decision Making Authority
Reports to the Lead Mechanical Engineer who gives him verbal and written work directions. Works in accordance with established international industry standards, mechanical manuals and skilled technical practices and only seeks supervisor’s assistance in unusual or particularly complex circumstances. Keeps supervisor advised of work activities. Frequent contacts with Utilities Division and other departments mainly from Production, Operations Engineering, TCC and Project Dept. to determine and resolve new pipelines/flowlines/mechanical/piping tie-ins, circumstances and possible causes of faults, plan works and isolation of process. Frequent contact with contractors’ personnel to direct, check, inspect and participate in their work.

Context/Special Features/Challenges
The incumbent shall demonstrate a good technical working knowledge of engineering and installation practices for mechanical equipment particularly for piping, pipelines and valves. Incumbent shall keep track also the assigned contracts/projects/jobs implementation in safely, timely, effective and efficient manners. Works in accordance with approved policies, procedures and industry standards and practices. Required to resolve any technical problems in mechanical particularly pipelines, flowlines and piping system that may arise at site during works or during testing/commissioning/monitoring

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from recognised educational institution
• Minimum 8 years in maintenance/commissioning of static plant equipment including pipelines, flow lines and piping system within the Oil & Gas/Petrochemical industry.
• Possess good experience in the installation, maintenance and commissioning of mechanical project contract works.
• Possess a good knowledge of written and spoken English
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of International mechanical engineering and safety standards.
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of Quality Management principles and practices.
• Computer literate in mainstream Office products along with exposure to online management, document and maintenance systems including SAP.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Previous experience living and working in Qatar
