The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
Lead role in component ownership and leadership of commodity team to deliver in line with QCWFT targets.
Delivery of engine component systems from through to by leading a multi-disciplinary (CPMT) team.
Development of commodity strategies.
Lead benchmarking for chosen commodity.
Leading the work stream of to support department objectives.
Lead issue resolution (AIMS) and Change Management (WERS), processes to ensure that all changes are implemented robustly and support programme functional, quality, cost, weight and timing objectives.
Provide leadership in the resolution of cross functional technical / manufacturing issues.
Ensure that lessons learnt are fed back in the corporate knowledge SDS's and DFMEA's.
Apply quality methods and tools to component delivery e.g. concept FMEA and robustness
Through Robust APQP and module meetings, lead suppliers through design phase, procurement of prototypes, production tooling and ensure components perform to requirements.
Manage supplier lead design and development including ED&T spend.
Component validation use DVP / eFDVS

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Strong and detailed knowledge of engine systems and design and development requirements.
Strong people skills and ability to influence others at all levels.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, self confident with a can do attitude.
Excellent project management skills and ability to simultaneously lead several commodities to support multiple vehicle programmes.
Ability to create and maintain complex commodity timing plans (to include design, release and supplier lead times, and DV testing) and to hold individuals and groups accountable to timing plans
A highly driven individual capable of making effective decisions in the best interests of the business and customer.
Able to demonstrate capability in Leadership and Management skills, able to motivate and lead a cross functional team to resolve cross-functional issues.
Ability and confidence to provide clear and concise direction to others, both internally and externally.
Capable of managing contractual/commer

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Previous first hand working experience of design leadership from to Job 1.
Familiarisation of castings
Product launch experience.
Current engineering or warranty recovery experience.
Strong commercial acumen.
Familiarity of eFDVS.
Ability to regularly present to senior management.
Experience / knowledge of the PACN, Deviation and Conformance plan processes
1-2 years within a design releasing environment
University Degree in Engineering
