The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
Project Engineer within Powertrain Strategy, Planning and Business Relationships department. The role will require a level of automotive business & commercial awareness - experience in either an OEM or Tier1 engineering function will be a strong advantage. Candidate will be able to research company and industry data sources and interrogate data in order to present results in suitable format to various senior management forums. Initially the position will follow briefs to complete tasks by engaging appropriate people, with an expectation to work on own initiative and formulate work proposals along with the required engagement of the relevant CoCs. The available role will cover a wide variety of potential areas: Product strategy within Powertrain, component complexity measurements and database analysis, therefore a suitable level of experience in each of these areas is required. Based at Whitley but travel to Gaydon required.

Skills & Experience Required:
Demonstrable experience in working independently, applying initiative to solve problems in the most effective way and by engaging the appropriate people across Powertrain. Technical experience in Powertrain Engineering desirable. Experience of data collation, analysis & transformation, to allow communication of findings to all levels within the business. Working knowledge of product creation / delivery processes. Desirable to have experience of Product Planning & Strategy, Pre-Programme creation, competitor analysis within a Powertrain environment. Able to work on own initiative and formulate work proposals along with the required engagement of the relevant CoCs. Ability to plan, organise, control & implement studies to time and quality requirements Clear/concise written and verbal communication skills, self-confident with a 'can do' attitude. An advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, primarily PowerPoint, Access, along with proficiency in Excel (VBA level). Competency in database analysis - Report preparation & presentation, in support of the development of business case analysis - demonstrating a good attention to detail. A good level of business acumen. HND or degree preferred. Valid UK driving licence required.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
An understanding of automotive competitive strategy benchmarking. Knowledge of automotive industry and technological developments; including competitor and market awareness. Knowledge of Product Development processes and PCS (Product creation). Self-motivated and able to deliver with minimum supervision. Microsoft SharePoint site administration SAP Business Objects skills and advanced Excel skills to support business case development an advantage.
