The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
The successful applicant will join a multi skilled team consisting of a supervisor, build engineers, a group leader, technicians and a material handler. They will support the team on many tasks, delivery of dressed and instrumented prototype powertrain to internal and external customers, delivering instrumented production engines to internal and external customers and supporting engineers resolve parts and fixings issues. They will support the teams focus on workflow quality, product improvement and timely delivery. They will interface with complex cross functional teams, this includes: build and test facility support teams, the customer / stakeholder groups, external agencies and organisations. A number of other IT related tasks and functions are supported within this remit.
To lead, plan and deliver assigned Powertrain LCC programme activities in accordance with Product Development Vehicle Operations plans.
To maintain, manage and promote the High Performance Business Behaviour Framework in line with HR policy and procedures.
To identify and manage any engineering issues raised throughout build phases of the LCC process.
Using the LCC processes, SPL & LWI ensure that products are completed to the exacting standard & delivered to all customers in a timely manner as business needs dictate.
To support the team supervisor and management with auditing of H&S, 5s, budget, training and development requirements.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
3 key skills; Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 in an automotive or related discipline with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience. Experience of coordinating activities to meet program deliverables. Detailed knowledge of Health and Safety requirements, including Risk Assessment, COSHH and MSDS. Computer literate, including Microsoft Office competency to produce plans, presentations, graphs, processes, Google mail, googledocs.
Planning, Co-ordination and control to ensure timely delivery of development parts.
A good understanding of prototype engine and vehicle build procedures.
Management and co-ordination of multiple workshop activities.
Familiarity with quality systems and fault reporting methods.
Familiarity with Bill of Material (BoM) .
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and create machining / fabrication requests.
Good communication skills.
A full UK driving license with less than 6 penalty points, no disqualification, 2 years accident free record.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
User knowledge of FMS, GPIRS, WERS & Falcon system knowledge.
A Class 2 driving licence
Knowledge of Hybrid powertrains systems
Previous experience of leading a team and the implementation of lean tools and processes
Knowledge of client or other original equipment manufacturer (OEM) product creation systems.
Training and application of problem solving tools, i.e. six sigma, 8D.
Ideally with a degree or Level 5 qualification in either leadership or engineering. If they do not possess a degree or a Level 5 qualification they should be willing to obtain it within three years of beginning the role.
