Project Engineer - Powertrain - 30709
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.
Reporting to the Battery Electric Vehicle Programme Manager, the successful candidate will join the team to support the delivery of our current propulsion system projects and their vehicle applications. This will be a long term contract initially until March 2017 with the potential to be renewed yearly.
- Ensure resolution of engineering issues and support analysis of the solutions available to meet customers requirements.
- Responsible for maintenance of the Bill of Materials and ensuring its completeness
- Manage programme finances to an agreed target, including initial investment, material costs and facility requirements.
- Author formal gateway documentation including gateway approval presentations and content letters
- Manage key performance indicators; closely monitoring financial, sourcing and technical status to targets.
- Reporting this information to key stakeholders both within and outside the Powertrain department, including senior management.
3 Key Skills:
1)Experience in processing significant amounts of data using Microsoft Excel / PowerPoint /Google Sheets to carry out Business and Financial analyses.
2)Able to lead multi-functional teams to resolve complex technical issues, achieving the best outcome for the customer. Working in a team environment and interface directly to the attribute teams, component areas, manufacturing and marketing, sales and service to resolve key technical & financial issues.
3)Must be enthusiastic, with a positive approach and with the ability to proactively communicate within and outside of the department.
-Effective communication skills with the ability to listen actively and comfortable to present to all levels of the business
-Experience in processing significant amounts of data using Microsoft Excel / PowerPoint /Google Sheets to carry out Business and Financial analyses
-Experience of project management within an engineering discipline, generation of project timing including critical path analysis and risk mitigation
-Highly motivated and able to deliver with minimum supervision
-A passion for process excellence and Project delivery
-A strong influencer and negotiator and able to manage conflict in a positive manner
-Experience of JLR Product Creation processes and systems (e.g TCDS, SCDS, PCDS, RMDV2, AIMS2, Programme Central)
-Experience of Creation and Delivery of Technology, Systems and Products, ideally within the Automotive Sector
-Knowledge of some or all of: Mild Hybrid, Plug-In Hybrid and Battery Electric Vehicle Technologies
-Able to challenge experts to achieve positive outcomes
-A passion for engineering and the Automotive sector
-Working knowledge of the client's High Performance Behaviour Framework
-Educated to a degree level, or equivalent, in a related Mechanical or Automotive discipline.
Additional Information :
The Role is principally based at Gaydon Engineering Centre, but meeting support at other Midlands facilties and Suppliers will be required. Candidate must have a full (preferably clean, UK) driving license
