The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
The Advanced Product Creation (APC) Powertrain team is looking to recruit a highly motivated individual to play an integral part of the team and lead key activities in the delivery of future Powertrain programmes. The successful candidate will work within the APC section of Powertrain Programmes which manages projects from project Kick Off up until the PSC gateway, to define the program; including technical feasibility/compatibility, vehicle packaging, budget definition (resource, Tooling & D&D, vehicle testing requirements), programme timing, quality planning and manufacturing feasibility.

The programme engineer role offers opportunities to build upon existing technical, financial and project management skills in a fast moving environment, dealing with new state of the art technologies and a wide range of customers.

Work with Product Strategy and the Vehicle APC team to set up an aligned set of initial product assumptions to act as the foundation for developing the project.
Define Powertrain system offering for new products. Including:
- CAD designs & compatible package
- Ensure technical targets are met & compatible – i.e. Exhaust CAD design meets Engine back pressure target, Emissions requirements, NVH targets, Weight targets
- Ensure PT financial targets are met, including Vendor tooling, D&D and material cost
- Ensure programme timing plan is compatible for all PT areas

Manage programme tracking documentation closely monitoring financial, technical/functional and package status to targets, driving inputs from the module leaders.
Create and present programme plans & status documentation to key meeting forums both within and outside Powertrain.
Successfully deliver PT programme content from KO through initial programme gateways.
Lead/Support the Project Leader in the resolution of key programme issues issues – technical, financial etc…
Lead/Support the Project Leader to plan and prepare for first physical vehicle prototype builds (X1) and initial virtual (UNV0) builds
Work closely with key customers e.g. Vehicle Engineering, Manufacturing & Service to ensure that PT assumptions are compatible and clearly understood.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Knowledge of Product Development processes and principles are essential in order to support the review and approval of feasible product actions to ensure robust implementation and compatibility with downstream systems through to production.

Be able to demonstrate the ability to lead the resolution of technical and process issues within a Project Team environment with the ability to represent the Powertrain Department within the wider engineering function.

Good communication, interpersonal skills and self confidence are the personal qualities needed to succeed in this high pressure environment, being self motivated and able to deliver with minimum supervision.

Experience of program or project management, meeting demanding timescales, budget control and cost effective delivery essential

Applicants need to be qualified to degree level, Computer literate in Google, PowerPoint, Excel and Microsoft Project.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
A good level of knowledge of Powertrain systems is desirable, although training/guidance will be provided as required.

Valid UK driving licence is preferred (intersite travel)
