The Company:
A luxury Automotive OEM based in the West Midlands. After continued growth & success there are a number of new exciting engineering projects underway and we currently have requirements for experienced engineering professionals.

The Role:
To deliver components & systems into new engine programmes, achieving Quality, Cost, Weight, Function & Timing targets.
Deliver Engine system(s) on time into production achieving:
- Quality: Use engineering quality systems (FMEAs, Robustness Studies etc) to identify & contain potential quality concerns
- Cost: Support Engines Manager in definition of programme cost targets & work with suppliers to deliver system that achieves these targets
- Weight: Support Engines Manager in definition of programme weight targets & manage CAD engineers to design system that achieves targets
- Function: Generate robust System Design Specification to define system functional targets & deliver components to meet targets. Support Test & Development team with DVP planning & execution & ensure supplier tests are completed on time.
- Package: Manage CAD engineers to achieve static & dynamic clearance targets, negotiate component change in other areas of Product Development if required to achieve clearances.
- Assembly: Work with engine manufacturing to ensure that components can be assembled into engine / vehicle repeatedly & within required cycle time
Support and if necessary lead FMEAs and input to manufacturing PFMEA.
Track progress in completing Product Creation System Gateway objectives.
Complete Change Request Forms & Engineering Release Notices to allow engineering changes to be approved by the organisation. Resolve engineering Concerns in a timely fashion.
Define & manage a commodity plan for each programme including design & manufacturing lead-times as well as key gateway deliverables timing.
Present programme status to Powertrain Gateways, support Powertrain design reviews, Package Meetings & Powertrain PMT meetings.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Automotive / Mechanical Engineering Degree. Chartered Engineer status is desirable.
5 years post-graduate engineering experience.
Component / system project management experience with Engine knowledge.
Communication – running meetings, creating & following up action logs. Negotiating support, presenting project status.
Planning / project management – creating commodity timing plans, identifying & communicating project risks & opportunities.
Financial management – delivery of system within agreed budget.
To operate successfully in this role, the candidate should be able to prioritise multiple tasks on a day to day level, must be flexible & able to communicate at all levels. He/she must also be self-motivated & driven to achieve results.
Driving licence & Medical clearance required to use High speed tracks and Hot and Cold environmental chambers if required to support development activities.
Office based with engineering support for prototype vehicle workshop & product
