The Role:
Powertrain Research support Jaguar Land Rover Environmental Innovation strategy by ensuring that all future diesel, gasoline and hybrid powertrains meet legislative tailpipe emissions requirements, including carbon reduction objectives. The successful applicant will lead the pre-development project for several new thermal management technologies to be implemented in a future gasoline engine.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Highly motivated with excellent team working skills and able to deliver with minimum supervision - Excellent project management skills - Good understanding of powertrain operating principles including fluid flow, heat transfer and parasitic loss - Ability to screen new technologies and innovatively apply them to automotive powertrain applications. Experience of managing complex engineering projects to agreed time scales - Experience of delivering research projects with a high technical content - Experience of cooling system / component design and development - Experience of the application of quality tools eg; FMEA, Robustness Matrix etc. Educated to degree level in Automotive or Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Abillity to define virtual performance assessments (CAE) for powertrain / thermal systems and conduct simple analysis exercises
Experience Required. Experience of JLR GTDS process for developing new technologies (or equivalent) - Experimental thermal characterisation of powertrain hardware including engine, cooling system - Experience of product/technology development processes to ensure robust implementation through to production - Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary organisation with interaction across many departments. Educated to a higher degree level (MEng / Phd) in Automotive or Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
A full UK driving licence is preferred as some flexibility working at both Whitley and Gaydon sites may be required
