The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
The position reports to the Laboratory Manager - Materials Engineering and the role is to work within the Non Metallic team responsible for the development of the newly created squeaks and rattles material characterisation role.

General duties include:
- Carry out validation on related materials to ensure programme sign off for the material compatibility requirements at appropriate GPDS gateways
- Lead development of the Slip Stick Machine test techniques to improve our understanding of this material characteristic
- Attend Slip Stick Machine training course in Germany for circa 3 weeks at the begininning of the role
- Build a data base of material compatibility performance for squeak prevention
- Develop this new role and area of testing to maximise the benefit to the business
- Liase with suppliers and out side organisations to maintain best industry knowledge for material compatibility testing and related technologies
- Work closely with the VNVH S&R Team in all aspects of material compatibility and support design reviews with data and testing as required
- Work closely with all engineeringCoC areas and other related areas of the business to achieve robust material validation
- Provide technical reports and recommendations
- Support field and laboratory investigations into failure mode avoidance initiatives with regards to squeaks and rattles
- Represent the department at meetings to determine required workloads and discuss outcomes of investigations
- Undertake research and development projects on related materials and technologies
- Ensure test equipment is maintained in accordance with TS 16949 and ISO 17025 directives

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
- Good interpersonal skills
- Awareness of trim related manufacturing processes
- High level of communication skills bot written and aural
- High drive, self motivated and able to deliver with minimum supervision
- Organisational and project management skills
- Good computing and PC skills including experience with the main software packages e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point etc

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
- Experience of material testing is desirable
- Experience of working in the engineering test environment preferably with in the motor industry
- Experience of test report writing and data collection
