The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
Position Description:
You will be responsible for the design and development of subframe associated components on a given program/s from concept into production, with project engineer responsibilities. This includes reporting status of and achieving targets for component/system cost, weight, and function into the program team, as well as making the design and tooling releases to suppliers. To achieve these targets you will be responsible for the activities of the team, which includes representatives from engineering (CAD, rig and vehicle test), purchasing, manufacturing, and the supplier. Ownership of components from concept to production Ground-up design of components to meet or exceed performance targets Design of components that adhere to departmental standards Effective planning and delivery of overall layout, detail design, durability and validation Derivation of Engineering Specifications, DFMEA, Delivery Timing Plan and Design Verification Plans (DVP). Release of Engineering Drawings (WERS) Supplier discussions and communications Resolution of engineering issues throughout process (AIMS) Contribution to departmental standards and forward strategy Support for TS function Support of other team members where applicable."

Skills Required:
Strong communication/teamwork/project management skills - essential
Experience of releasing parts with robust design verification sign off.
A working knowledge of FMA Quality tools, and PCDS - preferred
Design experience of cast, forged and pressed components preferable.
Proven problem solving skills use of DMAIC tools preferable
Experience of client Programme Management tools - preferred Use of WERS, AIMS and other engineering delivery systems preferred
Self motivated and able to deliver with minimum supervision

Experience Required:
Good Engineering design project planning

Education Required:
2:2 Mechanical (or similar) Engineering degree - ideally

Additional Information :
Role may require Inter-site or Supplier travel, including overseas.
