Role Synopsis
The Trinidad Major Projects are currently in the Select Stage and are scheduled to come on stream in 2014-2017 timeframe. Alongside this development, an extensive upgrade of the BPTT RPU’s information management infrastructure is planned: introduction of new IT systems, but most importantly an information gathering and cleanup exercise.

Project Office for Trinidad Projects will be based in Houston until 2013. The work will be done alongside other client projects in the same Contractor worldwide, and significant collaboration is planned to ensure economies of scale and common work methods.

Project Information is the data, documents and models covered by the Project’s scope. A key success factor for Major Projects is the effective management of the information they generate, collect and transfer. The objective of Project Information Management is to deliver timely accurate information to Construction, Commissioning and Operations, while at the same time enabling improved project performance. This is achieved by both high-level and granular status reporting of third party performance, problem solving, and anticipation of potential issues that could affect the project’s schedule during Detailed Design and Construction. A complete digital facility accepted by Operations is the final Project Information Management deliverable.

Reporting to the Project Services Manager
The Project Information Manager is a member of the Project’s extended leadership team. He or she shall:

•Be well versed in data, document and model management through project lifecycle, especially Brownfield Projects.
•Preferably have an Engineering background or a deep appreciation of engineering within Major Projects
•Be conversant with the use of information related IT systems on Major Projects
•Be able to communicate clearly at all levels of the organisation, and influence people outside his or her team
•Direct and lead a small team of experts
•Be able to interact with contractor and other third party organisations and create Project specific solutions that satisfy GPO standards
•Connect with the Group Projects Organisation PIM Community of Practice to obtain and provide support, feedback, peer reviews, lessons learned etc.

The role will require significant travel and a wider remit than simply the Project:

The information infrastructure aspect is likely to require frequent travel to Trinidad and understanding of the Brownfield and data cleanup effort. One aim of the role will be to find, train and hand over to a suitable local employee. It is expected that this will take one year, whereupon you will return to your home base for further assignment.
Key Accountabilities:, Information Manager is accountable for the following:
Inputting to and influencing contracting strategy and contractor/supplier selection;
Ensuring that everyone is aware of the importance of Information to the project, and their role in providing it; Interpreting and applying the GPO’s PIM standards for project specific use. Taking responsiblity for the overall integrity of the whole Asset’s equipment and systems information (e.g. maintenance equipment numbering systems, materials, contractor, vendors, facilities, asset register). Identifying all sources of equipment and other static master information and understand who the content owner is & what their agreed roles and responsibilities in regard to their information set are. Ensuring processes, including Data validation, are in place to achieve data accuracy and where appropriate ties in correctly to the asset model (e.g. 3D platform model for instance). Ensuring information issues are resolved on a timely basis. Working with IT delivery team(s) to ensure that the right systems are specified, delivered and used to support the PIM effort. Managing the specific challenges presented by working within a Brownfield environment. Establish a repeatable systematic approach that can be transferred onto other projects within the RPU portfolio. Working with commissioning team to ensure that information is received in a timely manner and is appropriately handled returned including monitoring of as-built process. Monitoring contractor information managers and document and data controllers to ensure that they have processes and procedures in place to maintain the quality of information in their systems. Preparing relevant management reports using MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, etc

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Essential Criteria:, Demonstrable previous Project Experience working in Information Management on large oil and gas projects: conversant with the wider information set (data, documents, models) and its use in managing projects through the whole project lifecycle.

•Brownfield or Operations Information Management experience
•Excellent communication and influencing skills, across the whole organisation irrespective of seniority, organisational or contractual boundaries
•Working as part of a Project Management Team
•Leading a small team of experts (contractor and staff)

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Previous experience with systematic design, configuration and implementation of PIM systems.

•Contract development, evaluation and implementation Information delivery
•Desirable Criteria:, Engineering background or a deep appreciation of engineering within Major Projects
•Previous experience in the Client role
•IT systems and IT project management qualifications
