The Company:
Our client is the largest refinery in Europe and one of the largest refineries in the world. The site offers, next to oil processing factories, housing to chemical plants and other businesses. In short: a large and important industrial site within the area of the Port of Rotterdam

The Role:
Implement integrity/maintain margin and growth projects in the Refinery Distillation Unit (RDU). The projects are typically integrity and debottlenecking projects.
Examples of projects include debottlenecking a depropraniser by replacing a reboiler and a project to increase the top reflux of the main distillation column to produce more kerosene, by installing new pumps and cladding the top section of the main crude distiller.

- Delivery of the total portfolio, directly self and through junior project engineers, of approximately 50 projects in the crude distillation area.
- To manage directly 10-15 of medium and large projects from concept to completion. The Project Manager carries single point responsibility for safety, costs, schedule and quality
- Set up and lead project teams (incl. contractors).
- Coach one or more junior project managers
- Work closely with production, maintenance, inspection and technology to improve the margins of the Refinery Distillation Unit..

- RDU portfolio is a portfolio of 30 projects with a total value of $ 30-50 million, partly (10-15) managed directly by project lead RDU area, and partly managed via other project engineers.
- Drive a team with up to 40 construction contractor staff and 20 design contractor staff.
- Coach up to two other project engineers

Special challenges
- Seamless integration of the projects inside the 2017 turnaround.
- Liaising with technology, inspection and engineering departments to ensure timely identification of scope.
- Managing interfaces in a complex organization.
- Minimizing late project change
- Delivering fast track projects to maximize the refinery margin.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Graduate engineer BSc and/or Msc
- Minimum 10 years varied experience in projects, engineering, maintenance and/or construction. Our preference is for candidates who have worked at manufacturing locations (Chemical Plants, Oil Refineries, LNG/Gas plants). We will also consider candidates with upstream experience who are interested to work at a refinery
- Fluency in English and preferably Dutch.
- Effective team leader, demonstrating HSE leadership
- Proven track record in delivering as promised
- Strong communicator and manager of stakeholders
- Willing to contribute to improvement journey of the team.
