The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
Position Description:
Develop the mechanical aspects of the PHEV traction battery. Key tasks include:
- Support the PMST leader in programme delivery and supplier management.
- Requirements definition, including capturing and agreeing cascaded requirements from the industry, vehicle attributes and systems teams.
- Work with the tier 1 supplier partner in the development of the PHEV battery pack according to programme technical, cost and timing targets.
- Support the creation of a commodity development plan of the PHEV battery system.
- Complete the quality deliverables, including boundary diagram, FMEA, quality history reviews, robustness checklist and derive critical design and manufacturing actions from them
- Work with the packaging, crash teams to develop a battery pack that packages in the vehicle whist meeting the various attribute targets.
- Work with manufacturing engineering to ensure the PHEV battery pack can be installed onto the target vehicles.
- Complete the quality deliverables, including boundary diagram, FMEA, quality history reviews, robustness checklist and derive critical design and manufacturing actions from them
- Develop relevant battery systems engineering standards based on lessons learnt, best practice and industry knowledge.
- Complete the hazard analysis and support the functional safety analysis.
- Support the report out project status to project leaders and senior managements at key milestones.

Skills Required:
The following is essential:
- Strong appreciation of vehicle systems and architectures.
- Experience in component engineering for automotive applcation with mechanical engineering background.
- Must be able to demonstrate the ability to resolve technical and process issues within a Project Team environment
- Experience in robust component engineering development essential.
- Problem investigation and Problem solving.
- Confident communicator.
- Strong organisational skills.
- A high level of diligence and personal integrity.
- Ability to work within a team.
- Sound judgement.

Skills Preferred:
The following skills would be an advantage:Systems Engineering or Safety Engineering Skills. Systems Engineering or Safety Engineering Skills. 6 Sigma green belt or black belt experience.

Experience Required:
Proven track record of developing vehicle electrical or mechanical systems.

Experience Preferred:
Experience in delivery to GTDS and/or GPDS processes. Experience with WERS process. HEV, EV component development experience.

Education Required:
Degree level qualified in Mechanical Engineering or closely related subject
