The Role:
NPL1 Project Manager
Initially based on Teesside but with regular travel to Clitheroe,Lancashire and other travel as necessary
Job Description
Specify, lead and execute the engineering design and implementation of a capital
project to meet venture objectives. Job holder shall be accountable to Project Group
Manager to deliver the project on time, at cost and to the agreed quality standards of
the project. Roles and responsibilities shall include
• Collaborate closely with the Programme Manager to ensure
seamless transition from development phase of the venture to engineering
project phase
• Consult and liaise with relevant groups including R&D and manufacturing
technology to ensure that opportunities are translated into effective engineering
solutions
• Formulate effective project implementation strategy utilising appropriate mix of inhouse
and external resources
• Prepare FEED and enquiry packages and collaborate with P&S dept and
contracts manager to select appropriate detailed design and construction
contractors
• Assemble, direct and lead the project execution team through to beneficial
operation of the facility
• Prepare suitable project Health and safety plan for the project, ensure team
compliance and report on all aspects of performance
• Develop cost estimates, seeking sanction approval and manage costs, while
meeting project goals
• Ensure that appropriate project management processes, practices and reviews,
are complied with and issue relevant and timely cost and progress reports to key
stakeholders
• Comply with all Group and local EHS requirements throughout the project
• Ensure that all statutory requirements as appropriate to relevant country
standards are completed in time
• Identify and appoint appropriate vendors and sub-contractors to ensure project
implementation meets project goals
• Comply with all aspects of group control manual requirements in respective of
contract authorisation
• Liaise with and where necessary co-opt site & services teams, well in advance, to
ensure effective implementation of the project and proper hand over to the
Commissioning Manager
• Support the Commissioning Manager during plant Commissioning
• Ensure all reservation works are carried out as appropriate and close-out the
project in accordance with business procedures

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
BSc Engineering Degree
Significant project management experience in chemical process plant
environment preferably in cut & carve projects. Typical project values £5m to
£40m.

Track record in leading and delivering projects to time and within budget
• Able to forge relationships with multiple stakeholders and build focused teams
• Must be able to work on own initiative
• Fully conversant with project management processes especially at the front end
definition stages prior to sanction
• Familiar with value improvement process and risk assessment techniques
• Familiar with design and safety review processes such as HAZOP’s, LOPA, SIL
and others.
• Knowledge of high temperature kilning processes (esp. pit furnaces), solids
handling, NOx scrubbing, tableting would be highly desirable.
• Highly focused on EHS in a top tier COMAH environment
• Knows UK statutory and regulatory requirements
• Assignment duration estimated at 2.5 years

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
BSc Engineering Degree.
Signifcant PM experience in chemical process plant enviroment preferably in cut&carve projects.Typical projects £5m/£40m
