The Role:
Business Unit / Function: Bureau Veritas
Position: Project Manager Oil & Gas
Reporting to: Regional Industry Director - BNR

Role Purpose Statement: The Project Manager is responsible for the successful execution of the project by providing guidance and support to all aspects of project execution. The Project Manager will ensure the project is staffed with qualified personnel necessary to perform the work within the budget and schedule of the project. The Project Manager has overall responsibility for maintaining the project schedule whilst controlling project costs. The Project Manager will ensure that procedures developed for the project are followed and adhered to throughout the duration of the project. He performs the job within the framework of the BV Quality Assurance System (BMS), the Code of Ethics and the BV Group policy.

ACCOUNTABILITIES ACCOUNTABILITES CONT.
Project Management
• Manages the day-to-day operational and tactical aspects of the project(s).
• Reviews high-level deliverables across the project(s).
• Implements quality assurance procedures in accordance with our (client’s) methodology to ensure profitable and successful execution of the project plan.
• Minimizes risk across project(s).
• Manages scope and mitigates risk across projects.
• Safeguard all project objectives and report to stakeholders
Technical Understanding
• Experience of managing Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and Detailed Design projects, Upstream and Downstream - Oil and Gas Onshore and Offshore (fixed and floating facilities).
• Assists in the evaluation and redesign of project proposal.
• Possesses a thorough understanding of our service offerings, technical preferences, and technical direction.
Project Accounting
• Analyzes, and in some instances determines, profitability, revenue, margins, invoicing rates and utilization for the project.
• Ensures accurate invoicing.
• Seeks ways to maximize revenue.
• Addresses (escalated) invoicing issues when they arise.
Teamwork
• Helps to determine new and creative ways to employ teams on projects and distribute responsibilities.
• Share lessons learned and best practices within the Bureau Veritas.
Communication
• Serves as key participant in team and client meetings.
• Confronts issues openly and quickly .
• Effectively communicates relevant project/practice information to superiors and peers in other practices.
• Tactfully communicates sensitive information.
• Handles (difficult) personnel situations directly, using appropriate discretion, HR advice, and respect for the individual.
Financial Management
• Manages to and achieves revenue goals set for projects.
• Accurately forecasts revenue, profitability, margins, invoicing rates and utilization for the project(s).
Business Development
• Assists in the identification of new business.
• Works in conjunction with our sales team to follow up on sales leads.
• Grows long-term relationships with clients
Tender Management
• Initial review and summarising of the tender package so that an initial Bid or No Bid decision can be made.
• Compiling and managing the tender inputs and the final tender package in compliance with BV processes.
• Partake in Tender Meetings.
People Management
• Manages/co-ordinates a team of technical professionals and administrative staff
• Evaluates performance and coaches staff members (when & where needed)
• Responsible for hiring/firing personnel
Client Management
• Manages day-to-day client interaction and expectations for the project.
• Anticipates clients needs and proposes alternative business solutions.
• Continually seeks and capitalizes upon opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE KEY COMPETENCIES
 Degree (mechanical) Engineering
 Knowledge of Front End Engineering Design (FEED), Detailed Design projects and Upstream and Downstream Oil and Gas - Onshore and Offshore
 Strong management resource allocation skills
 Ability to lead teams and strong leadership skills
 Knowledge of cost analysis
 Experience in running large (global) projects
 Sound communication skills especially in the area of diplomacy
 7 to 10 years work experience
