The Company:
Our Client is a global Energy Leader with a strong commitment to Honest and Ethical Business Practices within the Oil and Gas Industry. Our Client operates as an independent energy company. It has four segments: Oil and Gas, Syncrude, Energy Marketing, and Chemicals. The Oil and Gas segment explores, develops, and produces crude oil, natural gas, and related products.

The Role:
Responsible for ensuring, in conjunction with the Project Owner, that the project is delivered on time, within budget and to the required quality standard (within agreed specifications). The Project Team will deliver a controlled, safe transition to a new enhanced, comprehensive management system that is user-friendly, and meets the needs of the NPUL business, by 31 Dec 2014.

The Project Manager will ensure the project is effectively resourced and managed, developing effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including all project contributors and consultants.

The Project Manager will identify and implement effective monitoring and control mechanisms to ensure effective utilisation of project resource.

- Safety - Conducts all activities in a safe and effective manner and raises safety and environmental issues immediately and in line with corporate policy
- Leadership - Undertakes the role in line with corporate policy and demonstrates behaviours in line with companys values at all times. Readily accepts accountability
- Financial - Carries out duties in a way that maximises value and minimises waste and risk.

Technical/Functional

Planning & Control

oWorking with Work Stream (WS) Leads to develop sustainable delivery plans to meet overall project goals
oDeveloping and maintaining a detailed project level plan
oManaging project deliverables in line with the detailed plan
oRecording & managing project issues, escalating where necessary within the project structure
oManaging project scope and change control mechanisms
oPreparing for and attending stage gate reviews.
oEnsuring solutions at project level are directed to the appropriate team member for implementation
oDeveloping the project budget provision and monitoring budget v actual, and monitoring variance

Reporting

oMonitoring project progress and performance
oIdentifying and monitoring risks, and developing risk mitigation plans
oProviding status reports to the Project Owner/Sponsor
oProviding status reports to the Steering Committee/senior management via the Sponsor
oDevelop effective MCRS process with WS Leads that fit the needs of the project & key stakeholders

Stakeholder engagement

oWorking closely with key user groups to ensure the project meets business needs
oWorking with Implementation & Sustainability WS Lead to develop a sustainable UKMS
oLeading the Communications WS delivery
oEnsuring effective communications with Stakeholders throughout the lifecycle of the project
oEnsuring development and delivery of the Communications plan, with 3rd party specialist assistance where required


- Collaboration - Collaborates with others in the team and looks for opportunities to leverage their network and work with others to develop safe, practical and effective solutions
- Continuous Improvement & Innovation - Continuously improves methods of working by seeking feedback from colleagues and key stakeholders. Complies with company project management disciplines, effectively utilises knowledge databases and actively participates in project reviews
- Capability Development - Looks for opportunities to develop technical and personal skills both by formal learning interventions and work experience. Coaches team colleagues where appropriate and demonstrates a personal commitment to lifelong learning
- People Processes - Engages with people processes in a positive and timely manner. Demonstrates a commitment to the spirit of such processes.
- Performs other duties, completes additional tasks and supports ad hoc projects as required

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
•Degree qualified or equivalent
•Relevant experience, minimum of which will have management level
•Working knowledge of project management methodology, techniques and tools, particularly MS Project
•Experience working with one or more business/quality management systems
•Substantial project/management experience
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
•Excellent analytical skills; attention to detail
•Excellent problem-solving skills
•Oil and Gas experience desirable but not essential
