The Company:
Our client has been established for over 20 years locally and is focused on delivering design solutions to the nuclear industry, specialising in the design of mechanical handling plant and equipment, the design and installation of plant control systems and the provision of support to plant safety reviews.

The Role:
The client provides a range of specialist, underwater operating and engineering services in the defence sector worldwide and is looking to recruit a Project Manager to support its growing business in an exciting environment, and as part of a small team, your role will allow you to contribute significantly to the delivery of state-of-the-art technical products.

As the Project Manager you will oversee the design, manufacture, testing and acceptance of a wide range of surface and sub-surface products.

Reporting directly to the Projects Director and drawing support from a multi-disciplinary project team, an opportunity exists for a Project Manager to be responsible for project execution and performance against key measures, including quality, safety, on time delivery and financial performance, from project start to close out and review.
Project Manager Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the management of a variety of projects
• Report and interface with Project Director
• Manage individual projects to time and budget
• Identify and mitigate project risks
• Collate / produce progress & project reports and aid in decision making
• Meet with clients to report on progress and ensure projects are in line with client expectations
• Assign tasks to design/engineers/department
• Compile and issue of sub-contract orders through procurement department
• Ensure that project related documentation is complete, accurate and up-to-date
• Travel to client/customer and manage/communicate/present project specifics sometimes overseas
• Engaging with Workshop Management or with the Operations team off shore

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Have a proven Project Manager background
• Be comfortable working independently on complex and varied problems
• Have a sound knowledge of engineering principles + strong mechanical / electrical engineering skills
• Happy with working in a small team and the additional responsibilities that entails
• At ease dealing directly with customers and contractors
• Comfortable with maintaining and controlling project documentation, costs and procedures
• Focused on delivering to tight deadlines and specifications
• Capable of reacting to changes + willing to go the extra mile to deliver quality products
• Relevant experience in an appropriate marine / engineering field
• Effectively identify and communicate critical tasks and key risks
• An appropriate engineering degree or time served trade background

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Familiarly with international Quality and Safety standards
• Be familiar with working to marine and defence standards
• Marine/Subsea/offshore/defence background
• Previous experience of commercially sensitive projects + the security aspects this entails
