This client provides services to sites for the management and disposal of radioactive facilities and wastes, at the lowest economic cost consistent with safety and environmental requirements.

Project Manager

The Role:
A Project Manager to lead the development of an "Intermediate Level Waste (ILW) Container Project"

Main Responsibilities of the Project Manager:


• To assist the Core Decommissioning Project manager in the management of the project. Duties to include:
• To ensure that the container complies with all statutory requirements
• To ensure that container is delivered to cost and schedule
• Drafting and updating technical specifications and invitations to tender (ITT) for project related activities
• Reviewing proposals for the performance of project tasks and assist in the selection of contractors
• Managing contracts including ensuring the appropriate quality of deliverables and monitoring contractor progress against agreed programmes
• Monitoring project progress and producing regular progress reports for submission to stakeholders
• Participating in and chairing project and contract progress meetings and workshops
• Be involved with the design review process to ensure compliance with design procedures
• To provide support during both internal and external project audits
• The Project Manager will be required to liaise with the Design Authority of the ILW Container to ensure a compliant design; ILW container manufacturers and users.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Educated to at least HND level in an engineering or science discipline
• Experience of working in the nuclear industry
• Demonstrable experience of using project management techniques
• Experience of working to BS EN ISO 9001:2000
• Track record of managing complex and business critical projects
• Pre-empt, identify and remove blockers to progress
• Experience of engaging with a variety of stakeholders
• Demonstrate excellent communication, decision-making and influencing skills
• Able to plan and prioritise work to meet agreed timescales.
• Able to estimate and manage project budgets and allocate resources
• A high standard of individual safety culture.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Experience of radioactive waste package management, transport and regulations would be an advantage
