The Role:
Project Manager, Modifications

Job Summary:

•Coordinate and manage on behalf of the Operation Managers (OMs) all modification and VO works being considered & approved to be conducted on the existing FPSOs, covering; project definition & establishment, engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) project phases and contracts.
•On behalf of the Operation Managers (OMs) control the funding of the modification projects in order to stay within the approved annual budgets and approved VO’s for the units.
•Assist with the commissioning work and the handover to the Operations Department the modifications fully integrated with existing facilities. Ensure proper closeout of projects and conduct a structured post investment review when requested.

• Ensure that all project activities for the FPSOs which he/she is responsible, are carried out in conformance with laws and regulations, contractual requirements and the clients Management System Manual. In particular health and safety of personnel, natural and working environment and equipment shall be taken care of.
• Establish and maintain close cooperation with the owner of the FPSO design, being the Technical Department and its discipline Technical Authorities (TA) and appointed engineers agreed to be responsible for engineering work and services.
• Create a HSE, cost, and quality focused culture within modification project teams and promote this to all Contractors and Vendors. Manage critical relationships and interfaces with the EPC Contractor, equipment Vendors, and other service Suppliers. Establish a project team as necessary to manage all phases of the modification project in accordance with the agreed project execution strategy. Mitigate against quality, budget and schedule deviations through good governance processes and ensuring that robust risk management practices are implemented. Proactively take appropriate mitigation or recovery actions when significant deviation risks are identified. Deliver a mechanically completed, pre-commissioned and technically compliant modification with all related documentation as per internal and external requirements.
• When required, assist OM in communicating closely with Client representatives and proactively propose value enhancement initiatives that are of interest to both companies.
• With support from the project controls team, administer the Modification and VO database by keeping track of all planned and ongoing modifications and studies, and present monthly progress reports to the OMs.
• On behalf of the OM, coordinate project definition works (including the project execution strategy, budget and plan) to required maturity for annual budget planning and later project sanctioning by the VAB (value assurance board)

• Work closely with engineering to obtain the most cost effective engineering solution for the modification/VO in a lifecycle cost perspective.
• Establish & lead projects within the framework of authority and accountability agreed with the Operations Manager, and in compliance with clients management system as well as conditions set out when sanctioned by the VAB.
• Create a HSE and Quality culture within projects. Ensure that awareness of clients HSE, Quality policy and business ethical standards are established and maintained throughout projects.
• Ensure that appropriate contracts are placed with Contractors and Vendors. Work with the contracting team, the engineering team, and other support services as required to ensure that cost effective & robust contracts are in place.
• Manage the relationship and interfaces with Suppliers. Advise the contractors of clients expectations and manage this within the contract framework. Undertake reporting as required.
• Implement the project execution strategy and ensure this strategy is effectively communicated to all stakeholders.
• Establish a multidiscipline project organization as required (based on the Company generic project organization guidelines) to manage all phases of the project in accordance with the project execution strategy.
• Take full accountability for overall project performance and the establishment of project procedures and processes (based on clients normative guidelines) to ensure effective management of key factors such as: HSE performance, ethical standards, contract administration, interfaces, risk mitigation, quality assurance, cost control and schedule progress.
• Take full accountability for maintaining effective communication and reporting throughout projects.
• Ensure that the design and construction of equipment & facilities as well as the project execution are compliant with the Clients specification, functional requirements and regulatory requirements.
• Deliver mechanically completed pre-commissioned equipment & facilities with all related documentation.
• Assist with the commissioning work and handover to the Operations Department modification works fully integrated with the existing facilities.
• Ensure proper closeout of projects and all related contractual agreements.
• Manage project related contractual disputes, warranty claims, and insurance claims to be effectively pursued up to final settlement.
• Conduct a structured post investment review when requested.
• Promote Best Practice and experience learning within clients.
