The Role:
The project deliverables are a development process and toolset to enable forecasting of real-world fuel economy of new diesel powertrain designs, selection of appropriate powertrain technologies to enable vehicle applications to meet real-world fuel economy targets and optimisation of the final designs for real-world fuel economy by means of calibration - The project partners are two automotive OEMs, two UK universities, key technology suppliers and the British Government - The project is a sub-project of a larger scale passenger car CO2 reduction project - The execution method will consist of unification of existing process, knowledge and tool fragments from across the expert partners into a single competence, and further development of the competence by means of engine dyno and vehicle correlation and advanced CAE tool development
The role of the Project Manager is to plan and manage the execution of the project according to the project deadlines and within budget. This will include comprehensive requirements capture from a diverse group of stakeholders across the partners, producing credible plans, acquiring resources and managing the efforts of internal and partner experts and teams in order to complete the project according to plan. The incumbent will report to the Emissions Systems Integration Supervisor within the Diesel Powertrain Calibration & Development department, but will also report project status to product development senior management within the company, to the internal project leader of the parent project, and to the external stakeholders. The role is ideal for an experienced professional project manager with technical delivery experience outside the automotive industry looking for automotive experience, or for an experienced automotive industry project manager seeking a diverse, dynamic and high-profile project.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Demonstrable professional project management hard skills: o Gantt charts, resource forecasts, interface matrices, structured requirements capture techniques, budget tracking techniques etc.
The successful candidate will have a balanced soft skills set developed through experience of delivering several technical product or process development projects in challenging multi-interface environments:

Experience of project management in client-consultant or supplier-customer relationships
Experience of delivering Government projects
Project management practitioner qualification from a recognised body eg. APM, PMI
Certified 6-Sigma Black Belt or similar
