The Role:
Purpose:
The Project Manager, Process Commercialization is a new role in the global supply chain, created to build capability and establish prototyping and scale up processes between “laboratory to commercial production”. The role is critical to ensure the successful commercialization of our strategic innovation and pioneering technology pipeline.
The role will report into Global Supply Chain Global Engineering and will work closely on specific Marketing & Technology Projects with the respective business units' Project Managers in Gate 1-3 of Strategic, Material and Complex OD&I Projects. The role will be responsible for defining and establishing the manufacturing and engineering blueprint for scale up. Depending on complexity, Gate 1 – 3 for a typical project could last approximately 10-15 months. The role will provide end-to-end oversight during the pilot phase including supplier audits and selection, pilot plant trials, transportation and stability trials. Deliverables would include establishing equipment and process design, operating procedures including quality control specifications, handling and transportation specification for “hand off” to commercial manufacturing and the capital and resources required for scale up.
The initial project that this role will work on involves the introduction of a complex new ingredient into one of our leading brands. The project is expected to start mid Q214 with a targeted launch date of Q116. The project involves considerable work on supplier selection and scale up to 10 times their current capacity, handling of a “new to industry” ingredient which could involve establishing a cold chain, establishing 3rd party / inhouse capability to handle and solubilize this ingredient into a stable intermediate and establishing the subsequent addition of the intermediate into our lubricant blending plants.
This role will be located in Europe as the majority of the work, interface with suppliers and 3rd Parties and cross-functional collaboration will occur within the region. It is likely that the workload for this project will vary over the course of the year and therefore this role could be part-time or the candidate could support the global supply chain on similar projects.

Key Accountabilities
• Work closely with various business units' Project Teams to ensure robust lab to commercialisation across various projects.
• Act as the single point of accountability for end to end operational oversight for the design and piloting phase of the project including:
o Supplier Audits and Selection (with and Procurement)
o Establish Pilot Plant and Transportation Trials
o Understanding and applying relevant HSSE regulations and client's Technical practises
• Establish and define as part of the pilot phase key elements of operating, manufacturing and engineering design for scale up for “hand off” to commercialization
o Capital and other Resources needed for scale up
o Equipment and Process design needed
o Manufacturing Operating Procedures
o Quality Control Procedures
o Handling and Transportation Procedures
