The Company:
Our Client’s engineering division, has been a leader in the design of drilling facilities for offshore platforms worldwide for over 30 years. The company’s 700-strong workforce provides a range of engineering services from pre-project and Front End Engineering Design (FEED) through detail design, construction support, hook-up and commissioning.

The Role:
Reporting to the appropriate Client Office Manager, the Project Manager is responsible for the efficient running of a major international drilling facilities project or one or a number of brownfield modification contracts.

(a) Provide technical input into any project proposal to a client and to support client management in any required presentation to client in support of our tender submission.
(b) On award of contract work and with client support, assemble a team of engineers that will reflect and support company design and operational strategy and to put in place adequate planning, cost control and management tools to ensure that the project is properly controlled through all phases.
(c) Deliver projects that meet client requirements: cost, schedule, technical specification, quality assurance and HSE.
(d) Deliver projects that meet companys minimum requirements: technical integrity, operational efficiency, quality assurance, HSE and profitability.
(e) Develop a close relationship with Clients’ representatives in which decisions can be made from a position of mutual trust.
(f) Manage project team in a considerate, highly supportive manner.
(g) Ensure that the company is presented to client, contractors, vendors and public in a positive, helpful manner and in line with corporate strategy.
(h) Keep company senior management and others routinely informed of project status and all developments that impact cost, schedule, safety, profitability and reputation through regular reports.
(i) Strongly manage commercial and reputation risk issues.
(j) Ensure that all discipline leaders manage their scopes of work effectively and without exposure of the company or Client.
(k) Ensure that the Client and company operations management where appropriate are appraised of progress on the drilling facilities.
(l) Ensure that there is adequate operational and maintenance input into the project where necessary
(m) Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance within agreed Management System and Procedures.
(n) Ensurethe company, through a designated focal point; hold latest copies of all project team deliverables, schedules and MOM, except where such documentation is confidential to client.
(o) Inform the Head of Projects & Head of Engineering of further engineering and operational opportunities that may arise during execution of the project.
(p) Ensure that all phases of a project are properly completed, closed out and accepted.
(q) Provide forward estimates of annual contract budget for sales and margin as required by Financial Controller.
(r) Keep the Head of Engineering and Chief Discipline Engineers continuously informed of forward manning requirements to satisfy contract and project needs.
(s) On completion of project, complete project brief when required for future sales purposes.
(t) Ensure Change control is rigorously implemented on assigned project(s) to protect company's commercial position and reputation.

Primary Responsibilities:
Safety
(a) Familiarise themselves with the Company Safety Policy and take all reasonable care to ensure the health and safety of their and persons likely to be affected by their acts or omissions as required under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.
(b) Ensure that work is carried out effectively and without risk exposure of the company or client.
(c) Ensure that all projects have safety ‘designed in’ such that the drilling rig’s operation will result in minimum risk of injury.
(d) Believe in and promote safety culture within project team.
Financial
(a) Accountable for profitability of the project, within the agreed terms of the companys contract strategy.
(b) Robustly manage all design change issues to ensure that neither technical integrity nor financial status is compromised.
(c) Provide accurate monthly status reports.
Business Development
(a) Provide support and advice to management in developing appropriate contracting and fabrication strategies for future projects.
(b) Provide input to company proposals and sales supporting literature as required.
Departmental Development
(a) Assist the company in developing improved methods of project management and control that will improve efficiency and reduce risk.
(b) Document and Feedback Project Lessons learnt.
Systems and Processes
(a) Ensure that workscope is executed in accordance with agreed process and procedures.
(b) Where required as Action Party, close out RFA’s and RAF’s in a timely manner.
People
(a) Provide dynamic leadership and motivation of the project team.
(b) Carry out competence assessment and appraisals in respect of departmental staff when requested.
Quality
(a) Ensure compliance to all relevant Company management systems and where applicable client procedures and statutory requirements
(b) Adherence to all relevant management systems and, where relevant, Client systems.
