The Company:
Our client is one of the largest integrated energy companies in Australia, and a leader in cleaner energy.

Reporting to the Access & Approvals Controls Manager, the Approvals Planner will work within the approvals group and be responsible for planning, scheduling and reporting on the approvals team’s activities. The individual will require excellent communication and a solid understanding of the planning/scheduling discipline.

The Role:
The primary role will be to establish and maintain detailed schedules for approvals group work scope and provide accurate reporting to internal customers and management.

More specifically the role will encompass:
• Assist the Access & Approvals Controls Manager in developing planning and scheduling processes. Comply with and carry out regular reviews of the processes, and update as required;
• In conjunction with the Access & Approvals Controls Manager, determine, establish and manage the resources needed to carry out the scheduling function for the approvals group;
• Lead the approvals group planning process for the land, environment and indigenous relations teams activities and maintain detailed schedules for internal work scopes;
• Liaise closely with internal customers to develop and maintain the approvals teams activities, interrelationships and status for customers work scopes;
• Provide accurate schedule information to the approvals function leads and General Manager as required;
• Liaise with the Cost Controller and maintain current, and correctly coded, the scheduling data with reference to the scope of work and WBS;
• Monitor and report on key milestones;
• Identify the critical and near critical path(s) and prepare contingency management plans to maintain schedule;
• Prepare time recovery strategy options where delay or potential delay will affect the completion date of a contract or work scope;
• Review contractors and consultants bid and progress schedules and identify any anomalies or inconsistencies with the schedule;
• Assist managers to resolve scheduling issues associated with activities under their responsibility;
• Review the time and schedule portions of contractor’s variation claims and prepare details and analysis for resolution and or inclusion in any response;
• Produce schedule status reports to meet internal and customer reporting requirements; and
• Liaise with the other group planners for provision of information.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• A minimum 10 years experience as a planner and scheduler.
• Previous experience in large scale projects.
• Approvals function experience preferred

• Have flexible approach in working hours to meet varying workloads demands
• Sound written and oral communication skills with ability to liaise with all levels of management and staff

Other requirements:
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel etc).
• Proficient with Primavera P6
