The Role:
To set up and implement the quality management processes for the project, verify their adequacy and monitor and audit that the work carried out for and on behalf of the project is in accordance with suitable and approved management systems. To provide the focal point for overall project quality. Oversee the management of both Quality Assurance and the Quality Control function as appropriate. The emphasis is primarily on ‘Assurance’ and will supervise the ‘Control’ aspect of the function. To spearhead the continual improvement process paying particular emphasis to process improvement issues and seeking business improvement opportunities for not only the Project Management Team (PMT), but also the wider BGA portfolio. Act as the source of ‘Best Practice’ on all aspects of Quality Management ranging from Quality Assurance, Quality Control and inspection, process improvement, to the application of specialist processes. Lead the PMT in setting up and maintaining all Quality management arrangements with particular emphasis on improvement and learning. Work with joint venture partners and stakeholders as necessary to achieve strategic alignment of Quality management arrangements. Act as the PMT Quality expert with the capability of diagnosing systemic and systematic problems. Identify the potential for the application of Quality management processes such as Six Sigma, Lean etc. and lead their introduction into the PMT where appropriate. Act as the PMT source of expert advice and point of contact for third party bodies in relation to Quality management.

Key Accountabilities
Quality Management
• Prepare and obtain approval of the Project Quality Management Strategy, Project Quality Plan and Internal/External Quality Assurance Audit Schedule and (where appropriate) the Third Party Verification Strategy. • Co-ordinate the definition and documentation of the Project Management architecture and arrangements. Monitor and measure the suitability and effectiveness of the Project Management arrangements, provide feedback on the findings and develop/implement improvements. • Provide input into all Invitations to Tender (ITT) and bid enquiries for direct procurement by the PMT. Assist in the review of potential Contractors and Suppliers and participate in pre-award site visits, surveys etc. • Ensure that the standard Quality Exhibit is included in all contracts where applicable. • Review and approve the Contractors key Quality and Verification personnel and organisation. • Ensure appropriate measures are taken to meet the project quality objectives and identifying any unresolved quality problems to the Project Manager together with recommendations to rectify/improve. • Co-ordinate internal and external management system compliance audits to verify that the requirements of the project are being correctly executed, including audits of the PMT’s Project Management arrangements and audits of the quality management systems of the Contractors and their principal sub-contractors and suppliers for compliance with contract requirements and other regulatory body approvals. • Maintain audit and non-conformance status logs/reports for all project audits and distribute as appropriate within the PMT. • Review and approve as necessary the Contractors and principal suppliers’ inspection and test plans or Quality Control Plans and participate in selected inspection surveillance operations to maintain a position of oversight.• Review and accept Contractor’s and principal supplier’s quality management deliverables as specified in the relevant CDRS / SDRS.• Review and approve the Contractors procedures for material identification and traceability (as used by Contractors in their procurement documentation). This shall include compatibility with project requirements for the application of Criticality Rating within the overall procurement process. • Verify that equipment and materials, supplied either as the client's free-issue or procured by the Contractor, are preserved and maintained by the Contractor in such a manner that, at completion of the work, it has retained the specified purchased condition, paying special attention to the Suppliers’ warranties and specified instructions regarding storage and maintenance at all times during handling, storage and installation.

Reporting
• Assume overall responsibility for the Third Party Verification process and written schemes of examination (where appropriate), with assistance from the Contractor in terms of the provision of design, procurement, construction, commissioning, installation and hook up input for the work in its and its subcontractors’ and suppliers’ scopes.• Ensure that Quality records are legible, correctly identified, indexed, filed and protected to prevent damage, loss or deterioration and readily retrievable and traceable to the product for which they were produced. • Ensure that Contractor-supplied verification and measuring equipment is controlled, calibrated and adjusted at regular, pre-determined intervals by way of review and audit.• Establish, maintain and report on project Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
• Provide input into all PMT progress reporting as required.Process Improvement • Establish the lessons learned process for the PMT and oversee its operation during the project life cycle
• Ensure project lessons learned are fed back within the asset and to internal Company project stakeholders, for the benefit of future projects.• Work with parenting function and other key disciplines to identify improvement opportunities from other ventures and lessons learned processes that can be applied within the PMT as appropriate.• Work with the Contractor and there sub-contractors to develop a culture targeting process improvement opportunities.• Effectively communicate key lessons, improvement opportunities, and ‘better’ practice throughout the PMT and with the parenting function.

Risk Management
• Ensure that the PMT process and Project Management arrangements are developed to effectively manage the project risk profile • Maintain oversight of the key project risks and ensure that the project Risk Register is updated on a regular basis and effectively managed • Ensure that a robust review and audit regime exists to actively track and manage all project critical risks • Ensure that all key stakeholders are actively involved in the management and oversight of project critical risks and that these are communicated as necessary.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• BSc / MSc / MEng degree or equivalent in a relevant Engineering discipline • Chartered Engineer with a relevant institution would be preferred. • Proven Quality management performance in delivering extensive complex projects, specifically major EPC or EPCM contracts • Competent to manage a multi-disciplinary team. Able to guide, mentor, coach and inspire team members • Skilled in the scope and application of required assurance processes • Able to demonstrate the required level of commitment to HSSE, provide HSSE leadership to the project team and identify and lead HSSE improvements within a project • Thorough working knowledge of all appropriate Policy’s, Standards & Guidelines • Experience in the application of project management process systems and tools • Experience in the development and structuring of quality/inspection organisations • Experience of identifying project critical success factors and risk management practices • Team player mindset with ability to work in a multi-

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Member of a relevant Quality or business improvement industry association or institution • Accredited auditor capability for ISO 9001:2008 • Capability of Six Sigma process and execution
• Wider industry appreciation of Quality and business/process improvement processes • Working knowledge of Microsoft Project Application • General knowledge of NDE techniques and their limitations
