The Company:
Our client is a leading engineering solutions provider for blue-chip companies in the UK.

The Role:
Will consider permanent or contract
Predominantly based in the Manchester office but must be prepared to travel, sometimes at short notice within the UK
and overseas.
The jobholder will be responsible for the management of all project QC related activities with regard to the successful
delivery of purchased product and the review of associated Quality documentation.

The Project Quality Manager will report directly to the Chief QC Inspector on all QC related matters. The Jobholder will
also liaise with the Senior QA Manager for QA related activities.
The Project Quality Control Manager duties will include, but are not limited to:
1. Ensuring QC Inspections at suppliers and sub-suppliers premises are carried out in a professional manner and
confirm compliance with PO requirements, Costain Specifications and Procedures, International Codes and
2. Manage the Project Quality Control function with regards to the development and implementation of project
specific Quality procedures.
3. To interface with and provide expertise to Project Management and Engineering Disciplines on all project Quality
related matters.
4. To attend project meetings as the project Quality representative.
5. Review subcontractor Quality Plans or Inspection and Test Plans to confirm suitability for the package of work.
6. Attend Kick-Off and Pre Inspection/Production Meetings with suppliers/subcontractors when requested.
7. Ensuring a timely review of Vendor/Supplier Quality related documentation such as Quality Plans, Procedures
and LTQRs.
8. To ensure the requirements of the PED and other European Directives are implemented by both the project
disciplines and suppliers.
9. Perform SQEP approvals on Inspectors.
10. Perform a timely review of Inspection and Surveillance reports content for discrepancies and actions, following
Inspection activities.
11. To ensure the successful and timely issue of Certificates of Release following product Final Inspection and
documentation review.
12. Review Technical Queries and Concession Requests as directed by the Project Management Team.
13. Interface with Supplier, Project and Client personnel on all Quality related issues.
14. To raise and close out any Non-conformances or Suggestions for Improvements to be closed out in a timely
15. Development and maintenance of the project specific Quality procedures and to ensure that the project meets the
requirement the company’s Business Management Systems and ISO 9001:2008.
16. Carry out internal and external audits on all disciplines and at all levels in a constructive manner.
17. Prepare good written reports for Inspections, audits and submit regular project Quality updates as determined by
the project team.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
1. CSWIP 3.1 minimum.
2. PCN Level II Radiographic Interpretation.
3. CCNSG Safety Passport holder.
4. ISO9001:2008 Internal Auditor.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
1. Enthusiastic Quality Control Manager with extensive experience of dealing with major engineering contracts
within the UK and overseas.
2. Knowledge and understanding of QC / Inspection principles and their application to suppliers and subcontractors.
3. Understanding of principles of Engineering, Metallurgy, Welding and NDT techniques. Recognition of national
and international manufacturing codes and standards.
4. Educated to HNC/HND or degree level in a related engineering discipline.
5. Knowledge of current HSE requirements, with qualifications, would be an advantage.
6. Competent in handling complex rapidly changing situations.
7. Articulate, numerate and a good communicator and motivator.
8. Capable of acting competently, decisively and quickly on Quality related issues.
9. Physically and mentally robust and a team player.
10. Thorough knowledge of the quality system requirements of ISO 9001:2000.
