The Company:
Our Client is a Leading Global Operator in the Oil and Gas Industry.

The Role:
Reporting to the SURF or SPS HSSE Lead, the Project Safety Coach supports and assures the achievement of Project HSSE objectives at Project worksites. A key requirement of this role is to act as a representative of the Project Team, monitoring the safety of work scope delivery activities, providing supportive coaching where appropriate and bringing safety performance shortfalls to the attention of Contractor and Project Management in a constructive and pragmatic manner.

The role demands a flexible approach to meet varied Project location and schedule requirements. Work locations may include fabrication yards, spool bases, logistics marshalling yards and vessels/ports anywhere in the UK. Rotations may range from Monday to Friday, to two weeks on/two weeks off, with occasional short-notice deployments.

Responsibilities & Objectives
1. Rapidly develop a competent understanding of Company and relevant Contractor HSSE standards, policies and procedures.
2. Provide an excellent safety example at all times, in line with Company and Contractor HSSE rules and requirements.
3. Assess work performance against Company, Contractor and HSE Regulation requirements. The role will demand a thorough understanding of, and commitment to, risk assessment based safety performance. Attend and lead where required, task risk assessments and toolbox talks.
4. Develop effective and influential working relationships with workforce and management to create an environment in which assistance in developing safety performance is welcomed and trusted.
5. Provide high quality and knowledgeable safety coaching on a wide range of workplace activities including manual handling, lifting, hot work, work at height, energy isolation, confined space entry, heavy vehicle & forklift operations, etc. Competent in offshore safety coaching. Comfortable working with individuals or groups.
6. Challenge performance issues at all levels, influencing behaviours in a mature, positive and pragmatic manner. Prepared to step in and stop a job wherever safety is considered to be immediately at risk.
7. Using Contractor and/or Company workplace systems, raise constructive verbal and written hazard observations and safety suggestions.
8. Following appropriate training, conduct simple behavioural safety audits/conversations and complete required reporting.
9. Undertake site safety audits as required. Produce accurate written reports on worksite safety performance and inspections. Demonstrate a good level of attention to detail.
10. Often required to work without Company supervision and as an immediately visible representative of the Project’s values, at all times demonstrate a high level of motivation, a strong work ethic, personal integrity and a genuine commitment to safe working.
11. Following training, support the effective investigation of workplace incidents.
12. Maintain good standard of safety professional knowledge – e.g. NEBOSH/IOSH.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Relevant industry knowledge and experience required.
