The Company:
Our client is a leading engineering contractor and project integrator for the power industry, providing design, manufacture, installation and commissioning for a wide range of equipment for the power generation market. They are looking for Project Subcontract Managers to join their teams to ensure delivery of effective subcontractor selection and management through the project cycle.

The Role:
The Project Subcontracts Manager will provide subcontract management throughout the project lifecycle from bid to successful Project delivery - ensuring effective subcontractor selection, value for money and timely completion of subcontracted services while working in conjunction with other key disciplines to mitigate business, technical and commercial risks.

As a Project Subcontract Manager your main duties will involve:

• Creating subcontract procurement plans for inclusion in proposal documentation identifying all key interfaces and deliverables.
• Delivering effective subcontractor selection by managing negotiations to enable the most cost effective use of the market place and to ensure maximum benefit to the company including the provision of pricing, analysis, evaluation and recommendation.
• Ensure Terms & Conditions reflect Project and sector requirements and together with Legal & Commercial (where relevant) develop & negotiate an effective package to support subcontract award.
• Challenging documentation received from other departments to establish suitability to support RFQs and / or subcontract placement.
• Providing effective subcontract status reporting to facilitate effective management of the overall project / bid and subcontract.
• Leading multi-functional teams throughout the subcontract process to establish a subcontract monitoring process.
• Resolving any subcontractor issues impacting on the project schedule, budget, QHSE by implementing corrective action plans with internal stakeholders and subcontractors.
• Managing all subcontracts and negotiate the change management process including variations, claims, back charges and disputes.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Degree, HNC/HND in related engineering discipline or Procurement / Construction related degree.
• Membership of CIPs, APM, IMechE, RICS or equivalent.
• Working in a mechanical/electrical engineering or quality control environment in the Power Generation and/or Mechanical / Process Industrial Sectors in a Subcontracts Function related to global EPC contracting projects.
• Developing, implementing and supporting the execution of Subcontracting Strategy of multi-disciplined EPC projects.
• Reviewing and drafting a wide range of industry forms of contract.
• Negotiating and controlling external equipment and services suppliers and contractors.
