The Company:
Our Client is an international oil and gas company with operated production of about 600,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day and specialise in turning marginal and challenging fields into commercial successes.

The Role:
Our Client is currently seeking a Project Surveyor on either a staff or a contract basis. This is a long term opportunity on a residential basis in Qatar.

The position is primarily office based but with frequent visits to survey vessels, barges, production platforms etc.

Role Purpose:
To manage and supervise the survey and positioning aspects of the project. Provide expert technical advice and be the focal point of all survey and positioning activities of the project. Close association and continual liaison with the Project Team is imperative.
The position holder will be accountable for the preparation and subsequent technical clarification of all project survey and position related tenders along with work scopes and relevant Company technical specifications, planning, delivery, budgeting and technical assurance of the contracted survey activities and the quality of the resulting data, charting and reporting products.
The position requires close collaboration with internal customers, project managers, engineers, marine specialists, operations and drilling teams, geophysical and geotechnical specialists, and with a variety of offshore and land survey contractors, subcontractors and consultants.

Key Activities:
• Manage the project surveying, positioning and other related data acquisition and mapping activities in close cooperation with the Project Engineers and other internal / external project and Management Teams.
• Prepare the technical parts of Pre-qualification and Invitation to Tender documents.
• Undertake technical bid evaluation and prepare award recommendations for management approval.
• Develop ‘Scopes of Work’ for all project survey and positioning activities as and when required to ensure that technically sound survey and positioning procedures are applied and that survey objectives are met.
• Monitor survey and positioning contractor’s activities to ensure optimum equipment utilization and industry standard survey practices are being followed.
• Review all survey contractors’ deliverables, provide critical feedback and sign off all final submissions.
• Manage the provision of Offshore QC Supervisors for survey and positioning operations.
• The provision of services and expert technical advice within geodesy, surveying, positioning and mapping to Company departments and teams as and when required.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Demonstrable project management skills.
• Proficient at developing pre-qualification documentation, tenders, policies, technical standards, and technical work scopes.
• Qualified at BSc or preferably MSc level within Geomatics (Survey Sciences).
• A minimum of 15 years’ experience as operational offshore/hydrographic/project surveyor in the oil industry.
• Background to include appropriate experience as an Offshore QC Supervisor.
• Thorough understanding of the principles and practical application of Marine Surveys is mandatory.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• International deployment with an operator is preferred.
• Offshore experience to include but not be limited to:
1. Platform and drill site investigation including both geophysical and geotechnical data acquisition.
2. Pipeline surveys: pre-route, pre lay, as-laid.
3. Pipeline Installations and as-built surveys.
4. Jacket installations, levelling, leg cut-off’s, etc. and as-built surveys.
5. Riser / J-Tube installations.
6. Spool Metrology.
7. ROV based surveys including construction intervention, CP Surveys and GVI operations.
8. Top side installations and as-built surveys.
