The Company:
A global Oil & Gas operator with extensive operations in the Caspian Region.

The Role:
Our Client is currently seeking 2 x Project Surveyors to provide technical & operational project management support for the survey and positioning aspects of a major offshore project.

The position is onshore based and working on a 6/2 rotational schedule.

The role requires liaison with in-house engineers and external contractors working with the Major Projects Team regarding all aspects of survey work. Typically this will include managing mobilisations, operational planning and personnel to ensure that the work is completed on time and within budget.

Survey activity includes, geophysical, bathymetric, geotechnical and ROV surveys, through to the positioning & metrology associated with installation of offshore structures, sub-sea pipelines, manifolds and any associated as-laid surveys.

Responsibilities include:

• Commit Project and Contractor Management Teams to establish project strategies, philosophies and procedures to successfully execute the construction activities related to subsea installations, ensuring that Company corporate guidelines, shareholder expectations and project HS&E policies are reflected
• Input into the Statement of Requirements (SOR) and Project Execution Plan (PEP) as required
• Participate in project Risk analysis, HAZID/HAZOP activities
• Ensure that Lessons Learned from earlier projects are appropriately considered and implemented where appropriate in all relevant vessel installation activities
• Assist design Contractor on construction issues
• Provide input to Assurance Manager Risk Register
• Maintain site-reporting systems and provide input to project services management reports
• Ensure optimal survey technical support for all Major Projects activities & installations.
• Project management survey assets to ensure efficient usage.
• Management of survey personnel to ensure that project requirements are met.
• Be a focal point within project team for all hydrographic survey & positioning requirements.
• Preparation of survey scopes of work for inclusion within survey & construction contracts.
• Review and contribute constructive analysis of survey procedures written by contractors.
• Supervision of contractors’ surveyors during the execution of survey & installation work.
• Carry out in depth analysis & checking of survey reports & charts.
• Participate in HAZIDs and Readiness Reviews, as required.
• Visit survey vessels as necessary to audit capabilities and equipment of survey contractors.
• Ensure good housekeeping of all survey reports & their loading into GIS databases
• To continuously strive to improve efficiency using new and innovative technology.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
University degree or equivalent in Surveying/Geomatics
Hydrographic surveyor with a minimum of 10 year’s Offshore Oil & Gas industry experience
Minimum of three years’ experience working as a Project Surveyor on hydrographic & environmental surveys and/or charting surveys linked to construction work.
A thorough understanding of the principles and practical application of Hydrographic Survey and Acoustic Metrology applications.
Broad oil industry experience as an Offshore Survey Representative
Good onshore project management experience associated with large projects.
Knowledge of industry standard HSSE procedures preferred.
Requires effective and proven organisational & networking skills within the survey industry and an ability to respond to project reporting requests under time pressure.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Have a good working knowledge of GIS systems and digital data storage systems.
Previous experience in the Caspian Area
