The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
Programme Timing Planner.

The primary role is to develop and maintain a deliverable Vehicle Programme Plan (VPP).
o Work closely with cross functional teams to facilitate the development and achievement of detailed work stream plans (e.g. to support various vehicle build phases).
o Analyse and report progress against the plans. Identify and mitigate risks to achievement of the plan. Where slippage is unavoidable work with stakeholders to identify and plan containment actions to ensure overall programme timing is maintained. Take accountability for on time delivery of the plans.
o Identify critical path / structural issues found within plans. Lead resolution of timing conflicts and make recommendations to maintain milestones within the Product Creation Process (PCS).
o Run project TPATs to communicate project timing to ensure all functions are aware of the future activities and are aligned and committed to achievement of the plan.
Commodity Management
o Identify long lead commodities to identify potential risks with the plan and identify sourcing priorities.
o Run planning reviews to keep suppliers, engineers, project team, purchasing and STA aligned and informed.
o Work with Lead Engineers and Suppliers to understand commodity lead times to ensure that parts and associated software are delivered in time to support project timescales.
Use Commodity lead time information to develop component release schedules.
Compile management reports and associated metrics to support management reviews.
Work within the project management framework that enables the functions to deliver on time and to budget.
Co-ordinate prototype and pre-production planning / scheduling meetings.
Support iPLM introduction activities

Essential Skills and Experience
Project planning/scheduling knowledge incl critical path analysis and risk management.
Confident communicator, analytical approach to problem solving, highly computer literate .
Able to use MS Project and MS Excel.
Applicant needs to be self-motivated and able to deliver with minimum supervision with the ability to motivate others to deliver to their requirements.
Applicant will have the ability to influence the broader team when delivering platform/vehicle line objectives and therefore leadership, interpersonal skills and a 'passion for the product' are personal qualities needed to succeed.
This is a high profile role and will necessitate the ability to think both conceptually and tactically and at times question and reinforce convention dependent on the life stage of the programme/commodity concerned
Previous experience within a project management, engineering, or manufacturing related environment is considered desirable with a good knowledge of the product development process and PCS.
Experience of project or supplier management with a track record of meeting demanding timescales would be beneficial.
Educated to degree or equivalent level.
