The Role:
• The client project Engineering team is typically responsible for the engineering planning, design, construction and installation of new subsea and topsides facilities. The incumbent will be part of the client Project Engineering HSE Team. The main purpose of the position is to provide environmental support to opportunities and projects throughout all phases of the development process, known as the “Opportunity Realisation Process (ORP)”. ORP Phases: Identify and Assess; Select; Define; Execute; Operate; Abandon The key challenges of the position are:
• Provide deep expertise and practical application to drive delivery of Environmental Management in line with the Global Environment Strategy in pursuit of the Goal Zero aspiration of no harm to the environment.
• The position is principally based in the client office at Tullos, Aberdeen with occasional visits to other work locations for meetings with project teams and regulatory authorities.
Responsibilities:
• Provide Environmental support to engineering projects, including advice & input on permits/legal requirements and producing deliverables in line with ORP requirements;
• Assist with preparation, review and approval of permits and consents, EIAs, including regulatory communications;
• Drive compliance with the Global Environmental Standards (GES) as specified in the Shell global HSSE Control Framework within the Development Engineering (DE) and Project Engineering (PE) functions;
• Analyse performance (KPIs, incidents, audit outcomes) and benchmark performance with a view to identifying improvements in addressing E component of PE/DE activities;
• Assist with the development, maintenance and implementation of the Environmental Management System (ISO14001), including interpretation of new legislation and annual update of the functional Environmental Cases;
• Provide data and information for input to annual UIE Business Plan, HSE Plans and management reviews;
• Plan, execute and deliver improvement plans;
• Participate in investigation and review of environmental incidents with the Project Engineering / Development Functions as required;
• Liaise closely with Asset Environmental Advisors and Asset Operational Personnel on 'E' related matters;
• Support/facilitate lateral learning and sharing of good practice on environmental matters with Project Engineering and within the wider UIE community as required;
• Assist Project Managers with the reporting, investigation and follow-up of non-conformances as required;
• Promote awareness of environmental management within Project Engineering / Development Functions e.g. presentations, workshops, campaigns;
• Act as focal point for audits and reviews of Project Engineering EMS, ISO14001compliance etc. Conduct or participate in audits in line with PE/DE Assurance Plans.
• Represent Shell in dealings with Regulators and Partners.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• BSc or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject with significant experience in oil and gas or similar industry;
• An excellent working knowledge of offshore Environmental regulatory requirements and a reasonable understanding of onshore requirements;
• Experience managing environmental compliance and permitting, performing environmental assessments, working with environmental legislative frameworks;
• Experience working with agencies, stakeholders and NGOs on environmental issues;
• Experience with the requirements of ISO14001 certification, identifying environmental aspects and controls and performing environmental audits;
• Valid Offshore Survival Training and MIST for UK Sector is an advantage.
