The Role:
The main purpose of the position is to assist Project Managers (PM) to establish a systematic and fit-for-purpose approach to the management of H&S risks within their Project through the Define and Execute phases in compliance with the company HSSE Control Framework and applicable local legislation.

This will require application of a full spectrum of H&S skills including:
HSE activity planning
HSE risk management advice
contractor pre-qualification
Contractor HSE Management
site visits and HSE audits.

The key challenges of the position are: -

Goal Zero: an assured and repeated delivery of company projects with HSE risks demonstrably managed to as low as reasonably practicable (ALARP), creating a workplace without harm;

To be the focal point for HSE risk management support to projects. This will involve the coordination of all studies (many by others e.g. Technical Safety) including major hazard assessment, developing HSE Cases and contributing to layout reviews, constructability reviews, human factors and health risk assessments, as part of the Hazards and Effects Management Process.

The position is principally based in Aberdeen with visits to construction yards and vessels carrying out the fabrication and installation work as required.

Responsibilities:

Provide high quality health and safety advice to project teams.
Ensure that Legal, Regulatory, company and industry H&S standards and guidelines are implemented in area of business.
Contribute to the preparation of the annual HSE (improvement) plan.
Provide training to raise H&S awareness and implementation of H&S programmes, controls and interventions.
Facilitate and participate in incident investigations.
Support leaders in rolling out the company Golden Rules and Life Saving Rules.
Location visits to determine the H&S awareness.
Participate in project audit programme.
Attendance at HAZOP, HAZID, Risk Assessment meetings.
Promote and disseminate HSE best practice and lateral learning.
Monitor Contractor HSE Management as required.
Carry out H&S inductions as required.
Provide monthly data/performance review and feedback.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
BSc or equivalent Health and Safety Qualification with significant experience in oil and gas or similar industry.
Considerable experience with proven H&S exposure or a full assignment in an HSE role.
A good working knowledge of UK H&S regulatory requirements.
Valid Offshore Survival Training for UK Sector an advantage.
