The Role:
Role Outline
• To carry out system testing and material proving activities on Substation Automation and Network Management systems.

Duties
• Set up test equipment, simulator configuration and wiring connection schedules
• Relay Secondary Injection Tests on various protection relays and schemes
- Differential Protection
- Distance Protection & Schemes
- Backup Protection and Bay Control Units
- Bus Bar Protection
- Transformer Protection
- Connections Protection
- Generator Protection
• Overall functionality tests on multi bay systems, protection and control (Delayed Auto Reclose, Auto Switching, Sequential and Auto Isolation, Intertrip / Backtrip, ATCC, etc)
• Performing functional testing on Local Control Cubicles (including Electrical Interlocking Schemes)
• Configure OMICRON OCC files for Automated Relay and System Testing, including IEC61850 Modules

Additional tasks
• Fault investigation, post fault analysis, mal-operation diagnostic activities
• Carry out “point to point” wiring checks and panel pre-delivery inspection

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Preferred electrical engineering related education or the equivalent (HNC minimum qualification)
• Able to read and understand wiring and schematic diagrams.
• Able to understand configuration of IED protection relays.
• Knowledge of secondary Injection equipment and Protection Testing Modules (OMICRON)
• Strong IT skills

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Knowledge of MicroScada Substation Control System
• Knowledge of site commissioning processes
• Strong design capability and experience in the NG engineering discipline of Power System.
